Is it the same one released years ago, or is this a new version?

SWONS has its flaws BUT when I showed it to my girlfriend ( who has no real knowledge of N.S except my rantings about how great the next 45 is ) it did give her an insight into this strange world indeed and provided an impetus to want to go to a soul night / allnighter . . So as a way in and as some form of document about one of the original music movements if it provides and brings in new faces and interest to keep the scene alive /going then hats off . . . Oh and she did role her eyes at the girls in the toilet scene.... :shades:

i must admit some of the re-recorded tracks arent up to much and the keleidosope effects are a bit cheesy but i am also a fan of SWONS.

It provides a real insight into to the quirky nature of the northern scene and the fact that ian got in touch with so many of the artists to give them the chance perform again for an appreciative audience gives it the thumbs up from me :shades:

Yeah Matt Bolton said something about this, the last time this was discussed. He also said it looked like they were shot in someone's front room.

yeah i think several of them were. maybe ian couldnt afford to pay travel expenses for some artists. i know money must have been tight on a project this big but it could have been made so much better with a real backing band

I'd strongly recommend that nobody buys this unless they have some spare cash that they don't want to give to charity, and then get the abridged version to save some time. People would be better reading the In Crowd book. Especially if they suffer from epilepsy. As for the re-recording of tracks I'm afraid that was a complete waste of time and effort. Sorry! Anyone who overdubs screechy girls on a Terry Callier track is clearly taking the proverbial piss. :shades:

These were the concerns, as previously stated. So what does the s.w.o.n.s set cost (roughly)?

Jesus, the same old ground again! LOL!

Don't like it-DON"T WATCH IT !

I hate Disney Movies in general-so I don't watch them, but I think 'Dumbo" would have been better if they had used REAL flying Elephants. I hate Spielbergs sentimental crap-especially E.T.- so I don't bother with them. Actually I think they should have used a real alien in E.T. but they didnt have the budget so it would have been better if they hadn't have made the film at all. And I think H.G. Wells classic tale of the time machine would have been better if they had used a real time machine in the film. And The Bible stories would have been better if they had used the real Jesus and Jurassic Park would have been better if they had used real dinosaurs and King Kong would have been better with a real giant gorilla. And the Buddy Holly Story would have been better if they'd have used Buddy Holly-but he diesd in 1959 and the film was made in the 80's so they shouldn't have made any movies at all really. 'The Producers' would have been better if they had used real Nazi's and if Uma Thurmann would have been replaced by a real ostrich-which Ithink she was. The Elephant Man would have better if they ahd used a real Elephant Man which brings us back to Dumbo again.... yep its all going round in circles.

Certain people still have an axe to grind apparently - time to move on?

Indeed it is and a lot less than £35/£50. You could/should maybe get the book and a record with the change?

Just checked the book and it was indeed £50, like I said hardback and with a 45
