Andybellwood Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 (edited) Dug out my copy of this white label 12" last night - a strange one , single sided with the 45rpm track toward the centre . Seem to recall a previous ss post on this one (link anybody?) . Is it Jackie Ross ? did I hear that someone bought up the remaining 12" stock a few years back and had them 'trimed' to 7", then sold them on ? Is this something to do with Richard Searling?
mischief Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I'm not sure why I think it so maybe wrong.. but I think may have read John Manship knows about them and he has said before on SS.. Maybe i'm wrong...
Guest the dukester Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 (edited) I have a copy, I got it given from Tony Banks many years ago. 12" with a sticker in the middle.........sez.... JACKIE ROSS "TRUST IN ME" Edited April 17, 2009 by the dukester
Guest topcatnumpty1 Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Surely they're boots ? Don,t know about"Boots" as it was never issued in the states. We were talking bout this at Joe,s in Darlington the other night and the consensus (!!!!!!) was that when Ian Levine was speaking to MS.Ross about unissued stuff ,she mentioned an old 8 track tape and Levine went ape when he heard it.It then came out on that weird 12" --single sided with the last 2 ins.approx being the Trust in Me masterpiece------Numpty ME thought both sides were blank when i first got mine!!! Incidentally heard only 100 of these 12,s wer ever pressed---not sure Best Tony Coleby
Andybellwood Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 Surely they're boots ?previously unreleased track ?- booted from acetate perhaps ? - recording quality is excellent. But why a 12" with an inset single 45 track ? NORTH YORKSHIRE SOUL CLUB @ THE MAGNIFICENT RILEY SMITH HALL. Guest topcatnumpty1 Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Heyup Tony Wish i'd known you were discussing this ,i had a copy in my LP box on Sunday night Yeh,me Ricky,Paul Jones and Andy and Linda Bell were on about it---was good on Sunday --altho very diffo to hear the music--good to ave a wander round Darlo again---even if half the pubs have gone or changed their names.--Never seen so many scantily dressed young ladies as in Joe,s TILL NEXT TIME T.C.
Shsdave Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 No Tony never released but to me this release is a boot because allegedly this is an illegal pressing. It was at one time hoped to include it on a Jackie Ross CD but never appeared. It did later get an "allegedly" legal release on a compiliation cd, (possibly released by Castle but not sure) I've got it knocking around indoors but from memory Trust in me was head & shoulders above the rest of the top500 type sounds also included. I'm sure Shane Cox or Dave Box would know the "truth" ? chrissie Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Great record. I have a copy which was given to me as a birthday present last year and as someone said earlier it is excellent quality, a little wierd to look at with the 45 in the middle. I have nevered played it out as I can't decide if it should be classed as a boot or not, but if Mr Greenhill says it is then that's good enough for me and I will keep it to enjoy in the privacy of my own front room. Paul McKay Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Not saying that he did them, but seem to recall Steve Jeffries selling these.
