As a collector, I tend to receive records and I don't post many

However, I went to post a record yesterday and discovered that Royal Mail prices have gone up - last week apparently.

I was posting just one 45 record in a standard mailer with the standard two pieces of cardboard inside to stiffen and protect the package.

I had planned to send it Recorded Delivery but was told that would have been about £2.40.

I had checked around a bit on sales websites, posts on here and eBay and £2.00 for Recorded Delivery seemed to be the average cost charged for this, but my experience yesterday was that this wouldn't cover it.

Appreciate some advice please on what is a fair charge for sending a single and multiple 45s packaged in this standard way to the UK, USA and Europe. Based on yesterday, £3.00 for Recorded Delivery (including a modest contribution to materials) for one 45 in the UK seems the price to go for

It depends what you are selling 1 record sold for £20 and I'd ask for £2 1st Class recorded

and £5 for Special delivery- it wont cover the actual cost but is a healthy contribution.

2 or 3 records and over £100 sold I'd pay the postage anyway for the buyer as a thank you !

I've bought a couple of things recently and the sellers have paid the post (Thank you!) as Tescos say

"Every little helps"

I'd go back to the PO and get that £2.40 price double checked! 90p will cover any 'large letter' for up to 200g in weight. In my experience one 45 in mailer with two stiffs will weigh between 100-125g. Add on about 80p for recorded and you're looking at £1.70 ish.

I post a lot of 45s and no way is £2.40 right for what you've detailed.

I have just checked my receipt.

I ended up sending it as a 1st Class Packet - the weight is specified as 0.170kg.

It went through the little measuring device they use (a hand-held piece of plastic with a slot in it).

The price I paid was £1.62 and I was told that Recorded Delivery would have been 75p extra making it £2.37 to post Recorded.

Of course, the record is posted now but everything was standard re packaging.

You Have used the wrong service, One 7" will go At Large Letter Rate, Packet rate is more expensive and a slower service.
