Guest shnaggletooth Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) For your consideration and appraisal The first disc is a 10" 45 rpm metal acetate of "We'll Make It Someday"/"Sock It To Me", artist unlabeled -- though I've discovered that the artists were the late 60's soul group, the Commotions. Plays with the usual distortion you'd expect from a 40-year-old acetate. Second disc is a 7" 45 of Good Rockin' Sammy T (i.e., Sammy Taylor): "Sweet Mama"/"Good Rockin' Mama", on the Junior label, JU-500-IJ. Plays very good-minus. Edited April 14, 2009 by shnaggletooth

The acetate seems to fade out a couple of seconds sooner than the released 45 (judging by the site's mp3). "Sock It To Me" is an uptempo, dance kind of a number.

Just found this elsewhere on the forum: "The Commotions - Sock it to me - RCA Custom acetate but recorded for Blue Rock...they did have a 45 on BR and are the same group who cut 'Motown' on La-Ro-Ke. This is a traditional in-your-face Northern stomper." AND "...best find was a RCA Custom acetate for Mercury Records by the Commotions called Sock it to me, same group who recorded for La-Ro-Ke & Blue Rock and I assume this to be an unissued Blue Rock track...its a traditional Northern dancer with some great horn breaks which really grabs you after a few plays..."

loofer Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Man, I've been looking for this since ages. Can I hear 'Sweet Mama" somewhere?
Pete S Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I've got the acetate of "Motown" and "Sonny", label is the same as the one above but looks to be in a bit better shape
