s7oul Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 Just thinking 'bout records that started off on small/local labels and later got issued by major ones. I'll start the list going with a few - FOUR BELOW ZERO ''My Baby's got ESP'' (P+P) (Later issued on ROULETTE) BOBBY DUKES ''Just To Be With You'' (SARU) (Later issued on CALLA) EDDIE BILLUPS ''Shake Off That Dream'' (GAR PIX) (Later Issued on SEVENTY 7) CENTER STAGE ''Hey Lady'' (DISPO) (Later issued on RCA)

Guest Jamie Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 (edited) Just thinking 'bout records that started off on small/local labels and later got issued by major ones. I'll start the list going with a few - EDDIE BILLUPS ''Shake Off That Dream'' (GAR PIX) (Later Issued on SEVENTY 7) link This is probably the only record I know anything about 'Shake Off That Dream' was originally issued on 'HELPP', then later issued on 'Seventy 7' The Gar-Pax version is different, a bit more 'funky' if you will. I'm led to believe that HELPP was Eddies' own label and stood for 'Help Everyone Live Peacefully and Profitably' Manship did know about the label when I contacted him to value it a while ago. He's now listed it on his website. Cheers, Jamie Edited May 29, 2005 by Jamie
