Same as Rita Da Costa. None of them are really rare, although I suppose some like The Inticers and Fabulous Jades are a tad less common as they weren't as popular as stuff like Four Perfections and Jimmy Mack.

As regards the Kenny Smith on Goldspot they are all real. When I spoke to Kenny about this many years ago he confirmed that Simon purchased all of his remaining stock. There was more than one 45 on Bari .. all Motown band tracks ... the first one which I think was something like 'All the time' by the Soul Brothers was shipped over in bulk but I really didn't think the Saundra Edwards made it across the water Andy

None of the above are rare Grant, especially Eddie Foster, there's about 4 different boots of it. Some are harder to find, like the Kelly garrett, but still couldn't be classed as rare. Cobblestone never got booted.

Yes, many titles were issued on Astra due to demand in the Pittsburgh area (label was owned by a local DJ as far as I remember). No, Astra wasn't a legit re-release label, many (if not all) releases were bootlegs. I once read a small article about Astra, probably on soulfuldetroit.com

Simon Soussan used him for his counterfeits...maybe Ian Dewhirst will know, he was around L.A. in that period. Del-Larks - Sky Blue label was pressed in New York same plant as all the counterfeits with that tell-tale ridge-ring on the label. ie. Epitome of Sound, Timothy Wilson, Dave Newman, Anderson Bros etc.etc. But Kev Roberts told me the Del-Larks on sky-blue is really a 2nd. issue. But I don't think the 45 carries any rare 2nd. press kudos because of the counterfeits from the same source taints it. The Edward Hamilton - Mary Jane colour label without the Nashville Matrix I have an inconclusive scan now, many thanks to WAZZ, and he's bringing it for me to have a look at. The matrix didn't match up with the bootleg I have in stock, but I now suspect the white & black bootleg was pressed twice as the one I noticed the one i have is very flimsey vinyl and appears to be a bootleg of the bootleg... The Sugar Pie Honey Bunch on Brainstorm is extremely RARE! I thought it was "tailor-made" Northern Soul if anyone knows who the real artist is, please let me know. Another extremely rare bootleg is Phil Flowers - Discontented - DOT demo press in GREEN vinyl. It resembles Daly City Bobs work, maybe done for Belgium or Holland for the flip i presume..any definitive info on this bootleg would be most welcome.. as I've only ever had this one copy. My coloured one has P1005 AX - "nashville matrix" hand scrawled & 95 further round !! Ian

I've never seen that one of yours before - I think that might possibly be a real one!

I think out of the three records I ordered from him at the time, the Prince George and Kenny Smith were actually originals and the George Blackwell was a very convincing boot........ Ian D
