If you are referring to the same song as William DeVaughn, then I am pretty sure it is not by Curtis Mayfield, don't think he ever recorded it. It is one of those doctored computer recordings where the speed of the vocals is either speeded up or slowed down, as is the music. I have a cd with that track on it and I must be honest some of them sound pretty good.

If you're talking about this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zvwTukSKoU

it's actually this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xg6ebyhPPOk

it's not doctored at all, it's the official 1980 12" release (new recording by same artist)

Curtis never did the track.

here's the intruders (we'll be here all night with the amount of covers though...

Ahh, it was the Ive never found a girl record I was commenting on

William cut an album for TEC and recut Be Thankful etc. It was a reworking rather than a new version.

I have heard DJs announce it as Curtis, but why?? - it sounds nothing like him.

Do like his Hold On To Love...
