Supercorsa Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 How about the following O'Jays 45s? Love Train Backstabbers I Love Music I haven't got any on 45, only on a Philly comp LP.
Guest Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I haven't got any on 45, only on a Philly comp LP. i'm glad you wiped em out - cause i ain't got none of em i thought we had killed the tracks and moved on to 'common artist' - in which case, i have the o'jays
Guest KEN-SOUL Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 So who doesn't own Jackie Wilson "Sweetest Feeling"? What label?
Guest Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 What label? It don't matter regardless of label, orig, boot, reissue - so long as they are on 45 was what was stated
Pete Eccles Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 It don't matter regardless of label, orig, boot, reissue - so long as they are on 45 was what was stated So if I have this right, We are now doing just the artist, and the current only 'live' artist is the Ojays?
Guest Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) So if I have this right, We are now doing just the artist, and the current only 'live' artist is the Ojays? that was my understanding. unless Rod comes back from the record fair with james brown/jerry butler .....and Fleetwood Mack Edited April 5, 2009 by mikecook
Guest Dante Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I have ojays and jackie wilson. P Ditto. If we're moving to artists, Edwin Starr or Marving Gaye should be the safest bet? If those two don't work, I think we should close the thread, erase it from SS archives and never-ever talk about it again, hoping the shame won't drag us into an endless isolation Cheers, D

Not sure if we are supposed to be saying we have not got them or we do have them? P

Anyone who doesn't have a record by either of these artists should be erased from SS and never-ever be talked about again, hoping the shame will drag them into endless isolation - UNTILL they buy records from both artists.
Modernsoulsucks Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Just checking in to see what's going on. I have a mate staying for a couple of weeks so my time is taken up by catering to his every bloody whim and being at his beck and call. Thank God I've only got the one mate although no idea why my social circle is so limited. I see we've changed the rules. A coup d'etat whilst I was away. Still at least you didn't take me round the back and shoot me. So I have 45s by Jackie Wilson, Marvin Gaye, O'Jays [ not the same ones as Mark b as I do have some standards] and Edwin Starr. So what happens now? Kris? ROD

So to re-cap are we saying we have (if so yes to all above) got or not got? Confused.hedgehog. P Edited April 7, 2009 by paup-ine

Seems fair to me. But it looks it's going well. Altough it was funnier with 45s hehe Cheers
Guest Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 where are you Rod, we need some sort of order brought to this game never mind ya mate, this is more important what are we doing? - porcupine has confused the hell out of me - now i dont know whos who and whats what. Richard talked the talk about compiling a data-base and then left us high & dry pikeys dog pops in now and again with his own rules just to throw in more confusion in poor old Pete is trying his best to keep up with things but i'm starting to fear for his sanity - and Godzilla appears to be busy stompin around Japan, so he/she hasnt been much help p.s. did you pick up any james brown / jerry butler / fleetwood mack while you was at the record fair
Kris Holmes Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 So I have 45s by Jackie Wilson, Marvin Gaye, O'Jays [ not the same ones as Mark b as I do have some standards] and Edwin Starr. So what happens now? Kris? ROD We wait...... for someone to say the don't own any 45s by these guys.
paup-ine Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 We wait...... for someone to say the don't own any 45s by these guys. is anybody there? P
Modernsoulsucks Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 never mind ya mate So we won't all be round at your house anytime soon for a get-together? You'd be in your pyjamas with a cup of cocoa by 8.30pm and yawning pointedly. Friends always come first, especially friends with 45s, not that it enters into my head, obviously Yep, a bit slow. Surely everybody has at least one record by the four acts in contention so who is there to eliminate any of those. Who other than myself would even admit to such a glaring omission such as not having any JB or Jerry Butler 45s in their collection. OK somebody tell me one Northern 45 by either of these guys and don't say bloody "Moody Woman". That's another "move on up" re-activated when it was never NS the first time round. Don't think Richard can be criticised for his neat suggestion but which in reality was a bit too much work. It's not like me offering to buy all regulars on here a drink next time I see them as I don't know what anyone looks like and if you were to track me down I'd deny being me. Mine is merely an empty gesture whilst R's was a genuine desire to help, ill-thought out and impractical as it was and underhandedly usurping my position as arbiter. Thinking about it he deserves all the criticism he gets but at least he isn't Mark b. So what about we list what 45s we have by these four artists to see if there's a common title although we have suggested quite a few previously so that might be a bit of a non-starter. Nobody do it though until we arrive at some consensus on the next step. If there is to be one. Just to recap artists are Starr,Wilson,O'Jays and Gaye. So back to entertaining which involves hanging his bloody washing up. ROD
