Simsy
I prefer sixties northern to anything in truth. Looking through my collection and I got to wondering what was a fail safe half hour sixties spot that would be a fair balance to keep the dancers on the floor. I've got a reasonable collection, but don't have everything, not by a damn sight. A half hour spot, let's say ten singles. (Stipulate original labels from your own collection). It may not be the ultimate but here goes - are they 'fail-safe' or not? Showmen - take it baby (SWAN) Rivingtons - I love you always (Vee-Jay) Spyder Turner - I can't make it anymore (MGM) Betty Everett - Getting mighty crowded (FONTANA) The Trends - Not too old to cry (ABC) Jackie Wilson - Just be sincere (BRUNSWICK) Lou Johnson - Unsatisfied (BIGTOP) Jimmy Robins - I can't please you (JERHART) Robert Parker - I caught you in a lie (NOLA) The Dells - Make sure (CADET) Too many oldies? Not enough biggies? I do have more newies and biggies. But I think for a half hour spot, with that set - I'd feel reasonably safe that the dance floor would remain adequately full - as they are all good solid dancers. Would there be folk that would disagree? Or maybe you have a superior collection and could deliver the ultimate 60's 1/2hr spot? Ten guaranteed sixties dancers Remember feel good dancers = a packed floor ... Link to comment Social source share
Guest LeoLyxxx
Great tunes all of em' Ian and i bet the dancers would be happy but in my opinion i feel it's more fun to play what feels right at the moment, you know tasting the atmosphere and checking in what is working on the floor... ...also, i'm always ending with a ballad of some sort but that's just me i guess (and a couple others ) best Leo Link to comment Social source share

Simsy
Wasn't sure if others had suggestions for a half hr 6'ts spot? Throw it open - you don't necessarily have to have the records, but name a perfect ten ... Link to comment Social source share
