Not your favorite song, or singer, as some haven't a great voice, but can really sing, but who has the most amazing voice/vocal style, you have ever heard? No top 10's or even top 3's but the one

Hands down for me, whatever genre, Ella Fitzgerald.

No! It's like 'desert island discs' if you could only take recordings by one artist, for their vocals, who would it be?

Levi Stubbs for rich effortless voice

Jackie Wilson for style, the way he warbles his words.

Ooops! Only one as a desert island artist? then Jackie Wilson

This question should never have been asked :shades:

I can't make my mind up between:-

David Ruffin, Marvin Gaye, Brenda Holloway, Aretha Franklin or even the vast scale rage of Etta James, It's bloody impossible to decide..................well for me anyway  .

:) Hi a good one? Aretha Franklin by far the greatest female soul singer even on ballads and she is almost talking a song its pure magic I would love to see her live. as for male there are so many Marvin Gaye Sam Cooke Walter Jackson Wilson Picket But on record Stand By Me by Spyder Turner is one of my faves but all time record after record and for all his great songs it must be Jackie Wilson however in true rare soul collectors mind set I could easy say the same for Otis Redding I no these are predictable but they are the all the kings of soul  DAVE KIL

Big Maybelle and Jack Montgomery.

Walter Junior.there is a voice

I was 13 when I heard 'My heart is calling' and it blew me away. It still gets played every record room sesh at least twice.

As for the fairer, well it's got to be Gladys hasnt it for sheer breadth?

Best

Jim :)
