Rich Buckley
Value anybody, picked up a dirt cheap Fania demo recently (45 not the LP) but can't find it listed Cheers Mark Has it got Teacher of Love on the flip?? Was definitely on the Fania LP Acid. I've got it on a weird Belgian/French white demo from when it was released. Couldn't see it on Popsike either... I've got the Acid LP (damn good whether northern or latin is your flavour!), though unfortunately an 80s reissue. The 45 though looks v. 'real' and v. similar to a Joe Bataan white demo I got from the US and I'm pretty familiar with the Fania label (was and still am a big boogaloo fan!). I remember this with fondness being thrashed out on the Scottish scene in the 80s, wonder if Keith Whitson/Jock or similar played it off a 45 demo? Anybody got an issue or were these all demos? Is it just me or do I feel a whole new latin soul revival kicking off again with various things on Cotique/Fania/Tico etc being picked up again.... Mark Mark the Fania files say that 500 promos were made, and an initial press of Gold label issues was 2000. In those same files I came across the interesting bit of knowledge that one of the backing vocalists on the LP was Ray Pollard, which I didn't know. The lead vocalist was Pete Bonet whose wonderful 'Puerto Rican Soul' LP on Swinger is worth searching out. Dean Link to comment Social source share

Hmm, think I might give this or Mercy Mercy Baby an airing at Morely Carr (think I had a conversation re this with Trevski at the last one bizarrely enough!).... Guest TONY ROUNCE
I know I've put this up here before but I'm very proud of it!: ...very VERY late for a US 78 (although some later examples of US-pressed Latin 78 have surfaced, one as late as 1966!!!) Sorry for showing off... Link to comment Social source share

Guest lotusland
I have a white demo copy as well. A bit beat, but it was cheap. After I found it I remember seeing an ebay copy go for about $80 (usd). Seems rarer than it is valuable. I like to spin it to lighten things up a bit here and there. In my opinion the rarity/demand should make this at least a $125-$150 record or so if sold/advertised properly. Also, I have never seen a gold issue. Anyone? Rich Buckley
Mine has pic sleeve as well. Pete Griff Yup, same as mine and sounds like Martin's too. Pretty sure it's not a reissue but a French/Belgian issue from when it was released... Rich Link to comment Social source share

Yes and as I mentioned above 2000 copies at least were pressed of it. This though is quite a small amount for Fania for an album that sold like Acid did, the initial press for a 45 would usually be 5000. Link to comment Social source share
