they've been floating around the £250 mark on here for a while - although one did go for $135 in strong vg/vg+ not long back

I had a mint one on my site for ages for 175, eventually sold it for 165. A mint one went through ebay UK last week (or so) for 160. So I reckon 150 to 200 for a minter, I know it isn't very rare but it is always in demand.

There are quite a few go through ebay US but they are nearly always battered, strange thing is that they nearly always get bid up well over 100 quid

Just my opinion

Cheers

Paul

I thought it couldn't be that rare as everbody plays it, and quite rightly too - superb track.

Don't care how much this is played or how sick and tired everyone is of it...classic and timeless record which brings a lump to my throat every time I hear it

Great thing about this music, is different tastes, never really cut it for me, don't think it's a bad track (far from it) but when i hear it i'm heading for the bar.

at last ! someone who agrees with me about this tune.....yes its a good song etc but its played EVERY WHERE I GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!....and the best thing about it for me is it gives me a chance to rest my achey legs...

this kinda overlaps with the cheap/expensive thread.....£200 when every nite plays it and it comes up for sale on e bay at least once a month....but what more/zz hill you hardly ever see for sale or hear out but has been in the wanted section on here at least 3 times this month and it only books for £10 !!!...although someone on here offered me one at 40  ...then i got one for 15...

anyway rant over im off for my tea :D

Judging by the quantity that gets sold on a regular basis this record should never have a three figure price. I reckon £40/£50 would be a fairer price, especially in vg+ condition. £250 is a joke IMHO! I see records for £50 or so that you don't see no where near as often as Ruby Andrews. Yes it's a good record, excellent record in fact but its also everything thats bad about the scene and the dj's with a sheep mentality.

Me too... and all credit to Dave Godin, who was the first person to big this one up, way back in 1974! :D

(Thanks again Dave!)

Couldn't agree more Chalky, love it to bits but it's the sheep mentality that drives the prices up, dare I mention Joi Cardwell at this point?

Bless Dave Godin for making sure we all knew about it around 30 years ago though!

best,

i paid £40 for a minter in 1990.

was a big want for me in 1990.

couldnt wait to hear her sing it @ fleetwood, wasnt worth the wait.

Without doubt a top ten sound for me.

Bloody surprised it goes for that tho'. A 1988 Anglo Am purchase for 30. The one and only time I was in the right place at the right time.

Could buy a house for a grand or less back then  well you could in Grt Houghton

(Mind you, "you could have a night out for that in those days, and still have change for a bag of chips!" etc. etc.)

Totally agree, superb track but definately not rare and definately shouldn't be £250...

I agree Beeks! Although it's classic and timeless I'm one of the "sick and tired of hearing it" brigade :D

(Don't tell the missus though it's just about her favourite record of all time :D )

No way it should ever be a £250 record, though suppose supply and demand dictates going rate, as it's not a very hard one to find.

I know what your saying, I was at the same do and Marvin Smith stole the show In thought she was a little flat and she did a short version, whereas Marvin was brill and Im into 70s so I expected more.

I thought she was poor. I saw her when she came over in the 90's, she wasn't that good then so guess I wasn't expecting too much from her second time around.
