Guest Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 So far everyone who had one of my amazing soul packs has raved about them. Pete Smith very kindly found a few genuine customers for me. It's been great to see, when people collected them in person, how their eyes lit up when they looked through. To anyone who collects across the board soul, they are unmatchable by anyone else anywhere in the world, at that price, and out of nearly twenty people, I believe every one of them has been more than pleased with what they got. I'm now about halfway through sorting the eighty thousand, so still loads left, but once I finish, it's over and done.

I was one of those that Pete recommended to Ian and must say that I am most pleased with the broad selection of tunes in my 'pack' and genuinely believe they represent good value for money, as a result I plan to buy more just as soon as I can scrape a few pennies together, so if anyone wants to contribute please look up my listings on eBay (Seller 'Enthucol') which although predominantly reggae represses should provide items of interest for most with an ear for good music! I have corrected every problem, and unless someone hasn't told me so, I believe every single person is satisfied with what I gave them, all of which cost me more than I'm selling them for. If you're standing on the sidelines debating, trust me and give it a shot.

Guest Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 (edited) Ian's got one! The big money is for copies which are unrestored. I went for restored copies because it was the only way to afford them back in the day. Edited March 14, 2009 by Ian Levine

If you're standing on the sidelines debating, trust me and give it a shot. I am not satisfied with my pack, have been in touch with Ian to request a refund and still have no conclusive answer. Was offered some extra records by him, i declined as i can only presume they will be more of the same. He has said if he decides to refund it will be out of the goodness of his heart. Here are the first 20 records in box (i will list them all in time) The Trammps- Hold back the night Frank Lucas - Good thing man Krystal - Body dance Mike and Bill - Things won't be this bad always Sylvia - Automatic lover Bill Withers - The gift of giving Sweet music - I get lifted Alex Bradford- Letter to the U.N.(make the world safe again) Don Covay - Travelin' in heavy traffic Johnny Nash - I'll walk alone Wilson Pickett - Don't knock my love O.C.Smith - Long black limousine Fats Domino - I'm gonna be a wheel someday The Isley Brothers - Come my way Richard "Dimples" Fields - Taking applications Charles Williams - Please send me someone to love William Stuckey - You can count on me Clarence 'Frogman' Henry - You always hurt the one you love Warm Weather - Pieces of a dream Brook Benton - Makin love is good for you just randomly selected a few but to be fair to Ian Levine i will list them all so that you can see the whole of a super soul pack
Godzilla Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Not one person has been disappointed, so I'd like to find just two or three more people to do this with I'm selling some of my collection off this way. I have done ten sets of these so far, and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has been delighted with them. Others may do a soul pack cheaper, but nothing like the quality that I can do here. 300 all different for £300 300 records will be a complete across the board mix of 60s, 70s and 80s. Three quarters US labels, one quarter UK, but including some good sixties UK labels. Some very rare obscure tiny little labels, but some classic soul too. Lots and lots of twenty quiders in there, but the odd Gladys Knight or Chi-Lites too. But mostly, nothing worth less than a fiver. The combined value of the 300 records will be at least £1000 if they were sold separately. Some of the records will be worth at least twenty quid each. All from my own personal collection. I still have eighty thousand left, and most of those came from a warehouse in St. Louis, one that no UK record dealer had ever been through all the stuff, so there are tons of odddball little label rarities included. Look at it this way - if a quarter of them are worth a tenner each, it doesn't matter if there are a few Temptations or James Brown records thrown in, because the overall collected value is worth so so so much more than what I'm charging, but I still have eighty thousand seven inches here. I even threw at least ten extra into each set, plus twenty extra for the couple of people who had 600 off me - remember I paid more for these records than I'm selling them for.

I haven't bought a pack, nor do I have any reason to support Ian but seeing a whole list would be much more useful. The ones you have listed may well be worth £20 though IMHO, as long as you weren't expecting 300 'northern' records.
Pete S Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 This is the point, it's a 'soul pack' not a northern soul pack and is a pound a record bad value? I don't know, but I'd know I wasn't going to be getting a copy of The Professionals in there.

What exactly were you expecting to find in there? The Twans? PS: William Stuckley if it has "Girl I got you on the run" on the flip - great 90s. Edited March 17, 2009 by Steve G
Diggin' Dave Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Had a pack (500 45s) off him too. I priced 'em all, and here's how I broke 'em down: I always make 3 piles: one for 3 records (that's about £2,5), one for 5 records (just over £4), and the ones that were worth more (a fiver and up). After doing this I ended up with: -2 boxes filled with 3 records -half a box with 5 records -half a box with records between 6-20, about 10/15 were worth more than 10 Just my 2p to get an objective overall idea...

Steve G Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Next 20 out the box The Four Tops - What is a man Again if you flip it over you should find "Don't bring back memories" which is a great dancer. That's two B sides you have listed, have you opened the box the wrong way round fella?
Godzilla Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 its all opinion but would of thought these worth a quid each of anybodys money what genre of music were you expecting to get I agre there's lots of stuff worth a quid each there, Keith. Not so sure if I'd go along with the majority being worth a fiver a pop though. Also not sure they are the best value you could get anywhere. There are loads of job lots on ebay that work out under a dollar a piece. I've had lots exactly like that and even with shipping they've worked out ok. I stopped it because I got fed up with ending up with loads of stuff technically worth a couple of quid or so but with no demand. Not worth it even when the bits I sold covered the cost of the nice bits that I wanted to keep. Who wants boxes and boxes of not very exciting and pretty worthless records?

mikecog Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Obviously a unhappy customer here! I reckon a full refund should be made to the guy. That maintains faith in future customers Mike Cog
