Steve G Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) Does anybody have the results of Tim Bs Feb auction. Blue Jays? Ty Karim? J Gilstrap? cheers, Andy Nope, the process is about as transparent as a two foot thick brick wall...... Edited March 3, 2009 by Steve G
Pete S Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 You want to watch what you say about Tim Brown. There's a sneaky f*cker on here who reports everything back to him, truth or lies.
Ted Massey Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 has anyone actually won one of these auctions?? John Weston has
Dylan Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 in terms of major players on the internet manship and moerer sites are so much better than all the others. thats not to say others don't have very good records just don't think they will get anything like the same amount of visitors. tim would need to invest pretty heavily in site developmenty to catch up. thats if he wants to ?
cloth ears Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 You want to watch what you say about Tim Brown. There's a sneaky f*cker on here who reports everything back to him, truth or lies. I suppose theres no chance he could look himself And Surely there are no sneaky f*ckers on here
Gasher Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I can vouch for that personally.....yeah well said Pedro..the northern mafia you better keep shtum CAPICHE?? or you may wake up with a horses head in your bed...not from the zoo though . the g man You want to watch what you say about Tim Brown. Steve G Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Well he doesn't scare me I stand by every word I have said "the process is about as transparent as a two foot thick brick wall...... " Perhaps they "select" the winners
boba Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 You want to watch what you say about Tim Brown. There's a sneaky f*cker on here who reports everything back to him, truth or lies. this is a public forum, how is it sneaky that he finds out what is posted here? if you don't want other people to know what you are saying about them, don't post in a public forum.
Corbett80 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 only wondered if anyone had actually won anything as they don't put the final price.
Pete S Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 this is a public forum, how is it sneaky that he finds out what is posted here? if you don't want other people to know what you are saying about them, don't post in a public forum. I could explain to you but I just can't be bothered.
Marc Forrest Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I could explain to you but I just can't be bothered. Why not Pete, you were bothered enough to warn people to better watch what they are saying about Tim Brown, so please go on and explain yourself. I am sure there are more people like me who would actually like to know what you exactly mean. Marc NB I believe its absolute normal and common that people who are not a member on any forum will be told by their friends who are members when and what is said about them. Especially when its obviouly only bullshitting. Having said that I actually doubt Tim Brown is giving any notice about who is saying what about him on the internet anyway...
Marc Forrest Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Nope, the process is about as transparent as a two foot thick brick wall...... Sad but true

Maybe TB is a member of this forum? Every there and then I've been contacted via PMs sent from members who haven't posted one single word for years and use their accounts just for selling/buying. Strange but not too uncommon. Marc, I know you know TB personally. I don't so you can speak with authority on that. But if he was a good businessman he shall take notice of what is said about him, no matter if positive or negative. All I can comment is that I check out his auctions every few weeks just out of curiosity. I found him having a go at John Manship quite entertaining but on the other hand just a few weeks later TB himself was auctioning stuff that was far from rare and definitely set sale. Steve G Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 But no one is having a go at TB, just his auction site........
Bigsoulman Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 On his posted list it clearly states "winners only notified", well it did at one time anyway Lenny

OK very quickly, for your benefit Marc as it obviously means a lot to you, I made some comments about JOHN MANSHIPS PRICE GUIDE on here. They were reported to Tim Brown as being about HIS price guide and he then went on to slag me off to Kev Roberts who informed me that Tim was angry with me about comments made about his price guide, which didn't actually exist. OK?
Steve G Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 On his posted list it clearly states "winners only notified", well it did at one time anyway Lenny Yes it does say that, and I guess that also favours the seller doesn't it? It's like a sealed bids auction where the seller can pick the highest bidder or the second highest bidder. I actually like transparency.......

Serious questions: When bidding on a Manship auction can you see who elses takes part? I understand that all you can see is the highest bid if you weren't the lucky winner. Or do you mean you'd like to know at least the highest bid in a TB auction?

Modernsoulsucks Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Im confused. What's the beef with Tim's auction. Is it that he doesn't publicly publish on the site what the 45 went for? Is it that he doesn't inform the non-winners or that you are not kept up to date on current bids if you are participating. As far as I can see as long as there is an end price and you are aware you've been outbid it's as good an auction as any. If you didn't take part even that is of no concern. I understand transparency. I've only took part in John's auction once and I knew I'd won when he sent me an email. As Im a bit of a technophobe I've no idea whether I could see number of bids on one of John's auctions or watch online how it proceeded. All I knew was that I had top bid. Gotta admit I was a bit shocked [but then Im a pretty straight-laced type of person] when I found out it appeared to be common knowledge that Ebay auctions were sometimes manipulated in the seller's favour. I mentioned this a couple of years back when I figured out I'd been outbid by the seller on a 45 I was about to win and which I did when the seller re-listed it a couple of weeks later. He even gave himself feedback on the fictitious sale. ROD

While the auction is going on yes you can see who else is taking part and what the current bid is.
