Ged Parker Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 That means that PayPal are offering a completely free service to people who just want to send money all over the world. I don't think so. Nothing's for free. There'll be a hitch somewhere. The deflated exchange rate they charge is generally another way they make money when tranfering between different currency's. I dislike this more than the fee. Its just like the banks do if you use your credit card abroad. The rate is always worse than going in an buying the other currency over the counter. Mind you they do have those big bonuses to pay.
kevinsoulman Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Don't understand the difference between a debit/credit card linked to a paypal account and a bank account linked to paypal.......Does this mean I have to shovel money into the paypal account itself to not get charged the 4% when buying. What if I have a bit in the paypal account and a bit off my card.... paypal want you to use your bank a/c when paying thus avoiding cc fees i always go for the cc option if only to make them pay said fees and you get some form of protection when using ccards kev
Guest eddiep Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Just to add my bit and I havn't read through the whole thread..... Paypal can't charge you for accepting a 'GIFT' of money and there aren't any fees to pay either way. (Use this all the time myself on transactions with Paypal both ways if I can.) However I do believe there is a limit on the amount of 'GIFT'S' you can receive. £3,000 rings a bell for some reason but that is per tax year. Hope this might help anyone interested. Cheers.
Iancsloft Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I sell the odd 45 on here and to be truthful i want payin cash or cheque if someone wants to use paypal then i ask them to pay the charge why should i pay the charge when i dont want to use the bloody thing
vaultofsouler Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 (edited) I've only got one question.... Those that say they don't like/won't use/hate/whatever re PayPal.... why have an account to start with then FFS.... Now the easy answer for you.... delete it, drop out, or do whatever and however you choose to not have one.... simple.... it ain't scientific to do so is it.... then you'll have nowt to moan about, you can just say "I don't have an account".... Maybe the truth is you actually "like" having an account because it's the easiest way to pay.... but then "hate" it when selling as to receive money may cost a fee depending on options chosen.... PayPal.... bit like Marmite.... you either love it or hate it.... you can't do both .... Edited April 17, 2009 by vaultofsouler
