Guest remus Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Was talking to an old friend the other day about 45's (like you do). He was telling me how gutted he was to sell his copy of Gene Toones-"What more do you want from my life" on a blue ISSUE to Mark Bicknell for £40! (it was '82!). I said at least you made a profit! (bought for £20! off Keb). I sold my Eddie Hughes-"Soul Searcher" and I'm still hurting! What have you sold that you know you really shouln't have?

Guest in town Mikey Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Biggest regret? Puting money on slow horses, and not spending every spare penny on the thousands of unknowns in boxes at allnighters in the mid 80s. Cest la vie.
Guest Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 (edited) Only thing I ever sold was a copy of a record (which was shite anyway) and couldnt be played out as Butch and Andy Rix were both playing the real thing so no regrets from me Edited May 19, 2005 by Janine

I am glad I bought it off you as you clearly have no taste. All IMHO of course Hammy
Guest Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Really don't see the point in having a boot of something to be honest! It was obviously a very good record though as it's still being played to a rammed dance floor, NOT!
Guest Baz Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 same old story you buy a record some time's you sell it on and when you sold it it was probly for good money at the time .......... get over it

And here's me thinking you hated it because it was discovered by someone you used to go out with.... And since when has 'a rammed dancefloor' been the soul criterion of judging whether a record is sh**e or not? Not trying to get at you - but let's explore your views in full view of the forum please, rather than the shadowy twilight world of PMs Hammy

Guest Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Willie Mitchell -Champion e.p(with pic' sleeve and ALL inserts), and a Major Lance Monkey Time e.p(pic' sleeve with dancin' boots on ) Bought above £2.00 each at a record fair many moons ago, and traded them in at Notting Hill record trade/exchange shop, with some others for even less i think............wot a waste.............! But at the time i was much younger/more naive.e.t.c.............

What have you sold that you know you really shouln't have? link # Dread to think the number of big ticket items i have had through my hands over the years, still thats the nature of record collecting and this wonderful scene of ours, yes i did pay £40.00 for a Gene Toones stock copy which has turned out to be one of only two blue issues out there, i sold it on about 16 years ago for £300.00 alongside The Empires - Candi think it was £805.00 for the two, oh well if we had known then what we know now then we would have kept everything...lol Also what you have to take into account is that sought of price then was a shit load of money for records say's the man who sold Eric Mercury at Stafford for £100.00........i'll get my coat! Regards - Mark Bicknell.

Guest hammy Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 Getting a bit pissed off now, I've held my hands up, unreservedly apologised and I thought that would be the end of the matter. Seems that's not good enough for people who want to perpetuate a thread over something that was so trivial it should have been put to bed an age ago. I've re-read the thread concerned. Part of me does think I've seen a lot worse on here. However, I've obviously crossed a line so I'm happy to try and put things right. There's more important things in life that typing acerbic notes into like boxes. It's a bit odd how, despite that, people still want to come in mob handed . Nothing wrong with backing up a friend, I totally understand, but I'm beginning to sense a bit of a witchhunt lol. So once more, in case anyone didn't pick it up the first time, I apologise for any offence caused. Hammy
