Dave Thorley Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) Hi All Well at long last we are able to release the fantastic Rotations previously un-relaesed tracks, 'When he slowly moves away/We want freedom. They will be available from March 22nd through a number of outlets across europe, these are being finalised now. I know many of you have sent me notes on a regular basis asking about it's release, sorry it's taken so long. This is a legal limited 500 pressing from Manny Campbell. We have had them pressed at National Pressing in Nashville to give them that authentic US look and feel. I have even used my daughters name for the label in homage to labels from back in the day, ie Karen, Anna, Moira etc. Edited March 12, 2009 by Dave Thorley

I actually thought it was released last year but seems like I had a promo. Anyway whenever I played it out someone always asked me about it.....so should be a good seller....Steve

Dave Thorley Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 Hi Guys Due to the fantastic response to our first release. The Rotations-When he slowly moves away from you/We want freedom-Roxanne Records We have stepped the release date up to 1st March. These two tracks come from the Lawton sessions recorded in the early 70's in Philadelphia. This is the same group that recorded on Frantic in the late sixties and also shares one member with the original group that came from Ohio. The session was produced by Manny Campbell, now owner of Coastal records in Atlanta and the man behind the much sought after Nu-Rons and Tearra. Manny has licenced these tracks to us to launch our new label Roxanne Records. The label's aim is to bring the occasional high quality, much sought after release to soul fans around the world. This release will be retailed at £20 + P&P, which is a little higher than some other new releases, due to a higher licence fee than normal to persuade Manny to put the track out. But we thought it well worth it, so we could have the oppertunity to put out these two stunning tracks, we hope you agree. The record will be ready for posting from 1st of March from these highly reputable companies. So get your pre-orders in today, remember this is a limited 500 pressing and no more will be pressed. www.topdogrecords.co.uk www.recordshack.org www.soulmusic.co.uk www.rarenorthernsoul.com www.crazybeat.co.uk Plus Albert Petit for our friends in Spain Dave & Malayka

Guest Brett F Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) Gotta' say top drawer label art, i often think a lot of the unissued label designs are totally lacking in any aesthetic quality, but this one has a great feel to it. Brett F Edited February 28, 2009 by Brett F

Dave Thorley Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 Why is it so expensive? Yes we paid alot to licence it, in fact it was a split deal with Manny, who was aware of the retail. Manny has made some great records that people have paid him peanuts for in the past, then sold for £££, ie Nu-Rons. So we were happy to see him earn a fair bit from this release. How much, none of your business. Also 500 hundred happy customers feel the same way. Unlike some, at least we did pay a licence fee or others that pay the owners as little as possible then take most of the profite themselves. Each record we will put out, will be priced based on the deal we have with the peeps we licence from. So our next release is going to be half the Rotations price, as that is what we have agreed with the artists, who have full visability of the profit. Just the same way as Jazzman Records runs it's business. Have a nice day Dave
arnie j Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Why is it so expensive? new release or not,£20 for a double sider of this quality is a bargain in my opinion, bloody brill both sides
