Saturday night in playing some tunes and got to thinking about stuff you havent heard for a while.

This is one of em so is anyone out there playing this??

You're probably aware there's two versions of this Steve, can remember picking one up at blackburn for £15 I was well chuffed, only to get it home and find out it was a different cut with some sort of psychedelic sound overdubbed on it ... wasn't the one I expected ain't heard it played out in years or the psychedelic cut come to that

stop it Steve,dreaming of finding a red one !!!.I'm playing it at home if that's any help.

What a tune!!

First became aware of this on a tape entitled "big sounds from 86" via Lord Garry of Churmington a long while ago. Any other thoughts/ memories of it?? Stafford?

Got to be in the top 20 of all time

I found a few of 'em in LA in '76 and sent 'em over to Neil Rushton. Helluva voice but the production sounded a bit messy for the time but the song's impossible to forget....

in the 90s i was with chris holmes from york when he bought a red copy from dave raistrick at cleethorpes.

i think he paid 150 for it or something like that. if he didnt take it i was going to have the bugger. i heard him play it at the wilton and other do`s round the york area for the next couple of years but he appears to have retired from djing which is a shame because he always did good spots. i think he still has it tho.probably got played b4 then tho.dave may have played it himself but chris is the only one in my time on the scene who played it regularly. also pete lowrie played it at bishop auckland rugby club.never bothered with the blue copy even when it was a fiver

Pretty sure it was Keb Darge, certainly around Stafford time, fantastic record and I have always thought pretty rare on the red.

Just went looking for my blue copy and can't find the little bugger, anyone got sound clip of the blue version, I think I used to like it in its own right but ages since I played it. I certainly got the blue one of Soul Bowl Mel, as I thought I had bought the Red one not knowing there was a difference Doh!

..stick it on yer list Mel (blue version).I suspect the red version was also played at .......,wonder if IL would like to confirm.?

Ya Ian the date about right, I think I got it off Neil on one of my Sat morning drives to Walsall.

I played it at the Band Club which closed in Jan 77 and I sold it Ginger or Andy at the Spinning Jenny.

I later got the blue one from Soul Bowl.

It was myself and Guy that played it.

WAS GONNA SELL ME BLUE ONE BUT DECIDED TO KEEP IT IM SURE RICHARD SEARLING SPUN THIS AT THE CASINO CIRCA 79,ALWAYS HAD IT DOWN AS A CASINO SPIN TO BE HONEST BUT COULD BE WRONG EITHER WAY 2 DIFFERENT CUTS ON A GREAT VOCAL IMO.

You can't be paying much attention to Andy Dyson's sets Ezzie he plays it now and again

Last one I saw for sale (rare red label) was around £450/£500. Listed it for Andy for around that I think couple of years ago

Guy also played it Jock, although I always had it down as a Keb play. probably an arm wrestle between Keb and Guy as to who was first. Proper awesome tune.

The lyrical play is fantastic and the rhythm in which the vocal is delivered is stunning, bugger to dance to though with all the changes in temp - but I give it my best shot.

You're not the first to get caught out on the blue / red copy thing
