Stevecee Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 If any of you get the chance there is a 'live' track from Wigan from August 1978 of another 70's tune I'd like to identify. Bizzare as it may sound it was spun by Keith Minshull in between Family Affair "Love Hustle" (Cue Steve G) and Teddy Vann "Colored Man" (cue Steve G again) followed closely by Tony Blackburn "It's Only Love" Quite where Mr Minshull plucked the courage to spin the 70s tune amongst all the other great Soul records in his spot I don't know Here's the link, all help appreciated https://homepage.ntlworld.com/steve.carter27/Wig.wma Cheers Steve
Pete S Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Can't identify the tune but Minshull should have been banned there and then for playing it p.s. did he really play It's Only Love??
Stevecee Posted May 17, 2005 Author Posted May 17, 2005 Can't identify the tune but Minshull should have been banned there and then for playing it p.s. did he really play It's Only Love?? link Ah mate, cmon this can't be as bad as Larry Houston or the Carstairs... can it? And yes he does play "It's Only Love" although he announces it as Tony & The Majority and someone shouts out "TONY BLACKBURN" He also plays Brian Hyland, Judith Durham, Tim Tam and Paul Newman The good old days eh Cheers Steve
Guest Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Can't identify the tune but Minshull should have been banned there and then for playing it p.s. did he really play It's Only Love?? link Forgotten how good KM's playlists were at that time. Presumably he played the wrong side on a Tina Charles record Steve. Steve, have you got a tape of RW on the same night, just for comparison Steve

Headsy Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 nah,no idea,I used to be particularly impressed by his use of the mictophone........... ''the sound of'' '' the sound of'' ''the sound of'' thats all he used to bloody say.
Stevecee Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 =========== allan rhodes thought it may be a martha reeves lp track link Mark, just did a quick check on Marthas non Motown Lps on Arista and Fantasy and unless the chorus isn't "Truth or Lie" then none of the tracks seem to fit - Here's the tracklisting for the Arista and Fantasy one, I've heard the LP Martha on MCA and it's not on there. MARTHA REEVES - REST OF MY LIFE - ARISTA 76 HIGHER AND HIGHER, THE REST OF MY LIFE, SECOND CHANCE, THIS TIME I'LL BE SWEETER, LOVE BLIND, THANK YOU, NOW THAT WE FOUND LOVE, LOVE STRONG ENOUGH TO MOVE MOUNTAINS, YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVIN' FEELIN' MARTHA REEVES - WE MEET AGAIN - FANTASY 78 TRACKS FREE AGAIN, YOU'RE LIKE SUNSHINE, I FEEL A MAGIC, ONE LINE FROM EVERY LOVE SONG, LOVE DON'T COME NO STRONGER, WHAT ARE YOU DOING THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, DEDICATED TO BE YOUR WOMAN, SPECIAL TO ME I know it's a bad recording but maybe we need to identify who it sounds like and go from there Cheers Steve
vnicepce Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 ...just did a quick check on Marthas non Motown Lps on Arista and Fantasy MARTHA REEVES - REST OF MY LIFE - ARISTA 76......HIGHER AND HIGHER, link this is a strange coincidence, because about the time this was written, I went into a Secondhand Shop, local to me, and found the above track, on '45, and Elvis' 'Let yourself go'
