Ady Croasdell Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 The Dynamics cut of it on the LB CD is a fuller version, both are astounding soul records..... It does have more instrumentation, but both tracks are finished masters. LB & J is a couple of years later.
Spacehopper Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 love the jackie day ...heard ginger play it a few months back at bridgewater...
Corbett80 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 'It does have more instrumentation, but both tracks are finished masters. LB & J is a couple of years later.' Thats interesting, would of thought it was the other way round. Such a beautiful record, the lyrics and so forth. Also a big fan of The Waves in case you'd never heard....

The likes of FLOORSHAKERS, BRAINSTORMERS and all the other great comps from the early days of KENT. All those comps got a lot of young folk from the 8ts Mod revival in to Northern and Rare Soul. If you ever run out of new projects for future CD releases just re-release the vinyl comps with all the big oldies, Kent discoveries, and underplayed gems to a new young audience. Hopefully you wont run out of new stuff to release though. Its always nice to get a new compilation from Kent. Well done on MASTERPIECES OF MODERN SOUL Volume 2. Its as good as the first and havent stopped playing it for weeks.
Professorturnups Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 That's the ticket, mega track!! And bar far the better version? The 100 Club for me was after Drummonds in Kings Cross, any one remember that? I was stationed in London and used to go every now and again with Rob Cook used to go late eighties early nineties. Remember Drummonds well - run by Jon Buck (or Don Cluck as we called him - unknowlingly - at the time) During the 1990 World Cup we went to watch the Italy v Ireland game downstairs. Can't remember the score but was probably put off when an innocent looking chap was accosted by a stripagram and, yes, she did get them all off! Mark C

Thanks Andy, yes plans are afoot for Right Back etc but with changing licensing ownership sometimes they get dotted about other newer comps.

ImberBoy Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Ady didn't you used to play "Tribute to Betty" by Frank Spencer? Love to get a file of that fooker!
Ady Croasdell Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Ady didn't you used to play "Tribute to Betty" by Frank Spencer? Love to get a file of that fooker! No it was Don't Jump Off The Roof Dad by Tommy Cooper or possibly Jack Douglas' version of Swanee River " Waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy down upon the Swanee River"
Barry Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 that's cheatin' . i would have said -"get yourself down here" Not as possible for me these days for me to do but my feet have put the time in on that dancefloor over the years. I miss the fact that todays life is so far removed from my earlier carefree years when anything, nighter-wise, was do-able. My question comes from that simple yearning to place myself on that dancefloor once again, picturing a current playlist. Hence the question. I still care.
Chalky Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I've some live tapes I did back in the 80's ('87 I think) in the garage. I'll dig them out and transfer to pc when I get the chance and post 'em on here.
