The newest 7-inch release to come from Helsinki's Timmion Records is by Myron & E, a Bay Area-based soul duo who have re-considered what new soul music ought to sound like. Without being over-sung nor over-produced, their sound is loose, cool and something you'll want to hear again and again.

Having already collaborated independently of one another with several hip hop groups like Blackalicious, Myron & E (aka producer E da Boss) have combined forces to create a new soul sound with tight production and honest vocals.

Expertly backed by the go-to group The Soul Investigators and produced by E himself, Myron & E have set themselves up for making their 7-inch an instant collectible.

Here's the first single:

Hear the B side of the 7-inch here:

And buy it here:

We know Myron & E have been garnering a lot of attention lately, so if you feel like posting the single on your blog, that would be great. Let me know if you have any questions or need more information.

Thank you for supporting independent music.

No! This is exactly what what new soul music is not supposed to sound like!!

This is new music trying to sound like it did in the 60's or 70's and has nothing to do with the 21'st century. The music I love has nothing to do with kids trying to copy the sound that in it's time was progressive and political. This is so far away from that!

I have nothing against it but it hasn't anything to do with soul music!

I have to say I disagree. I think it's a great double sider of a 45 and along with Kings go Forth, these are the kinds of new releases I am glad are getting made.

Yes they sound like 70's records, I'm sure this is what the band members are listening to and from that are making really great music of there own.

Give me more I say!

i really like kings go forth "high on your love" and I think the mayer hawthorne single is great (despite the overdubs instead of a real group).

I would probably dance to it if I heard it in a club and didn't know what it was but how can anobody say that this is real soul music?

For me it is someting completely different from this.

Real soul is music, politics, skin colour and much, much more! This is just music!

90% of the songs I play are love songs. That is the convention of the genre. Are the songs I play not "real soul music"? I 100% disagree with your beef with these tracks. You could make an argument about the quality of the songs, could make an argument that making a "retro" sound is not moving forward or relevant, etc., but to say that this is not real soul music because it isn't political is silly. The form of the music, the practice of making it, etc. is inherently "black", having political lyrics is not necessarily meaningful. A lot of the political songs of the 70s are sort of shallow and silly in hindsight while a lot of the love songs are timeless. Similar to how the most classic rap music might be about bragging, gucci clothes, or violence, and are often much better than the dated sounds of public enemy and other 'political' acts.

You are talkin aload of utter shite(IMHO). Sorry, but if anybody has managed to refine- a true interpritation of 60's Soul music, it is the musicians, performers and artists at Timmion. The Myron and E track is not a copy of a track. Yet it is a match for many original 60's recording.

Do you Like Ian Levines Stuff? because i think what you said in your post stands true more to him, than Timmion.

Yes, this is new music trying to sound like it did.......yet if you listen closely, especially to myron and E, it is in effect a true soul record, with all the honesty of a 60's Soul/RnB dance record. Not a copy, an interpritation....that is right on the money imo...

Sorry if i seem rude, i don't want an argument, i just feel your reaction to the solid writing, arrangement, production and performance of these lads, of the title track especially, is ...UTTER SHITE lol's laugh.gif

No, completely wrong.

Raggae still sounds like Raggae.

Country still sounds like Country

Heavy Metal still sounds like heavy metal

punk still sounds like punk

Yet somewhere along the Way, Disco kidnapped Soul music...Timmion are filterring out all the shit, getting back to roots and are doing it well. Getting back to music, BEFORE it was all politics, skin colour and much much more.

You'd probably dance to it in a club< if i didn't know what it was?

I danced to it in a club, and didn't realise it was a modern day recording. How authentic, well done them. Is actually what you meant...i think ph34r.gif

Well for the record I quite like it and it DOES sound authentic...though I don't like it enough to purchase, it's pleasant enough but doesn't really go anywhere and I have no idea why any of you are taking offence at it unsure.gif

That is such a bizarre thing to say. huh.gif

"Cold Game" is superb. But the biggest part of my record collection is probably "just" music, so who am I to say... unsure.gif:(

the "I can't let you get away" is a beautiful slice of soul music

I think its a pretty good record! I like what these guys are doing and more power to their elbow. As with Kings Go Forth, talented guys making good soul music, long may it continue!
