Most of us like to think we know a bit about soul, and I know lots of folk who say "Oh yeh, I knew/know that" when they obviously didn't, just don't want to seem thick, but I honestly didn't know this, and I just thought, "well, that's a new one to me!"
Always thought Otis Redding's "Try a little tenderness" was the original, 'til I got a Sinatra album yesterday, and he did it in the early '50's! never heard it!
Then again, I was playing Kyu Sakamoto "Ue o muite arukÅ" ("I look up when I walk") released here as "Sukiyaki" and someone said, "Is that a cover of Jewel Akens!
Point is, If you don't know, it's not stupid to admit it!
(I actually prefer Kyu Sakamoto to Jewel Akens, but thats a different story!)
Anyone else got any "I didn't know that" info they'd like to own up to!
