Guest NEV Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I'm confused. Didn't I just sell you all of these for a quid each ??????? And even threw in about fifteen extras too..... You did say they were a bargain I bought a record on ebay from usa for £75 when it arrived i re-listed it on ebay and sold it back to Usa for £150 ! Nothing confusing about it Ian
Guest EType69 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I'm confused. Didn't I just sell you all of these for a quid each ??????? And even threw in about fifteen extras too..... Majority of these did come from you Ian. What are you saying.......... anything not to my taste I'm not allowed to sell on????????????? Steve PS Glad you took my advice and put your packs in Sales.
Guest Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Majority of these did come from you Ian. What are you saying.......... anything not to my taste I'm not allowed to sell on????????????? Of course you are. I just feel a little like I'm parting with my children and I wanted them to go to a good home and I guess I kind of thought people would be keeping them for their own personal collections. That's why I'm doing them so ridiculously cheap, to help people build up their soul collections in an affordable way. I guess I hadn't expected people to resell them straight away.
Guest Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 PS Glad you took my advice and put your packs in Sales. Yeah but now that Mike Hughes has reorganised the sales page, they've ended up somewhere on page three.
Guest EType69 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Yeah but now that Mike Hughes has reorganised the sales page, they've ended up somewhere on page three. Well this is keeping them on the front page.............you should be thanking me.

Guest newone Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I do sometimes feel somewhat victimised, I have to say. i hope the bloke u bought 80 thousand from, does not come on here saying i thought u were buying them to build up your collection, not to sell in packs, as for victimisation all sandgrownuns feel that way, i still get the age old quote been there once did not like it, thirty years after leaving the place
Guest eddiep Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I do sometimes feel somewhat victimised, I have to say. I know how you feel Ian. Such is the way of money and people unfortunately. There's people who genuinely would like to be able to add to their collections in buying the soul pack's your offering and get the enjoyment out of them that we all feel owning and listening to something new, but cant afford it at present (LIKE ME !) and there's those who are in the position that can afford it and only see it as a chance to profit from a situation in one way or another. Human nature in both ways I guess? Does make me question the 'Faith' and alledged passion for the music and collecting side of things amongst some people. Especially now as I had the same thing happen to me a while back. Oh well...

I buy a pack of 350 (unlisted, accross the Board) sort out some from a genre that I'm not over keen on & offer them out to someone they may appeal to at a bargain price. I have sorted them, graded them & listed them. They are all worth £5 - £10 each, some book at £15. How dare you question my 'faith' or 'passion'. Every penny I've ever made from selling records has been re-invested in other records. BTW When Ian complained of feeling victimised I think he was talking about his perception of site rules being changed.
chrissie Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 (edited) I'm confused. Didn't I just sell you all of these for a quid each ??????? And even threw in about fifteen extras too..... To be fair to Steve, Ian, I would of done the same thing and sold the 70s etc off as it is not my cup of tea. I had a little windfall yesterday, a gift of £300 from my ex husband who is in the later stages of Motor Neurones and I seriously considered investing the whole amount in one of your "packs" and selling off the ones I didn't want but a certain little black dress caught my eye and hell what is a girl to do So instead of buying your pack and making myself some money i am going to buy one special record with some of the money that is left, as a memory of a dear friend. You have to consider that maybe a buyer doesn't like all that is in the pack or has duplicates you can't honestly think they are going to hang on to them for the sake of it. Even you can't be that naive By questioning Steve's integrity you have tried to put him in a bad light. Steve is a true lover of soul music and a man who has a big heart and recently raised over a thousand pounds for charity and I man I have had the honour to grace the decks with when he helped me raise money for charity last year. QoFxx Ian hasn't questioned my integrity Chrissie, eddiep has. Talking of which if he wants to give these records a good home then he can make the cheque out to the British Lung Foundation or the Hero's Fund and I'll post the pack to him at my expense. Balls in your court Eddie.

I wasn't getting at you - I was surprised that you sold them, but I stressed it was your prerogative. I knew I was offering a bargain no-one else could ever match
Guest Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 i hope the bloke u bought 80 thousand from, does not come on here saying i thought u were buying them to build up your collection, not to sell in packs There was no such bloke I bought eighty thousand from. By 2003, I had 100,000 gathered from loads of different sources. The most were thirty thousand from St. Louis. The rest came from many many different sources, including Record And Tape Exchange when they stopped selling seven inch vinyl and closed up their London shop. I bought wholesale from many many sources, including several thousand from Manship. I bought and stockpiled for over ten years.

Pete S Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Still waiting Eddie. I'm interested to see the reply too. I would have only bought a pack (or packs) of these records to sell, I have no interest in even listening to them. My only income comes from selling records. Most of the time I would be in the same position as eddie p and not be able to afford them anyway. I've sold 200 records on ebay in the last fortnight and I don't think I played more than 5 of them. If Etype69 isn't allowed to sell his own property then God help us.
Guest eddiep Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Still waiting Eddie. By way of a public apology and after just seeing the response after logging on I seem to of upset you and maybe some others....? I in no way intended to do that or as Steve seems to of believed made a personal attack on him or his integrity and no one else for that matter. I started with the words... "I know how you feel Ian". This was refering to actually being in a similar position to what Ian had apparently found himself in after selling off records and seeing them on sale shortly after. Gutted ! I also understand that once a purchase has been made they become the owners property to do with as they please. That's a basic right we all have. Im sorry Steve took it that I was attacking him and am sorry to obviously upset him. It really wasn't intended. And seriously Steve, if I could afford to buy yours or anyone else's soul packs at the moment I would but truth is I cant. Maybe I'm a bit envious of that hence my moaning! Appologies to you and anyone else I've offended. Sorry. Eddie
