Could well be - he did an earlier version of this on Atco so it isn't impossible that he was recording in the sixties...

Believe it was the same guy. Al was one of the 60's/70's big name DJ's up there with Frankie Crocker and E Rodney Jones. He was also somewhat of a empressario in Detroit manager of Al Hudson and Oneway. But he came to a sticky end, used to take payola but not always play the tunes, was eventually shot.

Earnest Kelly, who was in partnership with him in the early 70's tells a great story of spending the whole day in their office on James Cuzons, under the desk because disgruntaled people were taking random shots at the building all day long in connection with payolla.

100% the same guy. He's also Vee Allen's (aka Velma Perkins) brother
