this is rare, but I don't think it's the rarest motown single (for example, I've seen it more than the nick and the jaguars).

I have some info on this group in my files...seem to recall they were from Toledo or had connection to Toledo's early rock scene (90% of Glass City action was recorded or released in Detroit).

No way this record is rare, unless you're looking for a mint copy. I've seen numerous used copies, and for less than $50. A mint copy might get good $ from a Motown collector.

only seen a couple of copies of this and mines one of them, there are many really rare early motown including Nick and the Jaguars, Contours-whole lotta woman etc that are probably rarer than this Bisaynes outing, however when you look on history on Manships, Evilbay, Soul Source etc. this record never gets a mention. Maybe its because its more of a Bill Haley type record than a soul single, but Motown related never the less. It will happily sit nestled in one of my Motown boxes unless someone really wants to do a swap etc. however more of a Motown oddity as its only a VG copy.

Thanks to all who replied.

it's certainly not one you see every day, but john m told me a lot of serious motown completists will have it already hence the scarcity. bit like say wil collins, king tutt, p.p. mitchell etc. lots of em in the grand scheme of things but not for sale very often. think i have a copy if anyone interested, and a couple of other such items!

this used to be on ebay trashed fairly regularly, sellers like record graveyard would have it up. it won't be in popsike because of it's lower value.

It was confirmed to me by a toledo collector that the Biscaynes 45 was actually recorded by berry gordy in toledo. why in toledo i'm not sure but that's what i was told. there is also a couple of other toledo records that seem to have a gordy connection and one was the tracy steel & outlaws on c-way (jobete pub)? the only other ridge record that i can think of was the Don Mckenzie.

another ohio-motown connection was that the morroco muzik makers were an ohio group. And obviously there was ohio-detroit connections at the time, e.g. cody black.
