45cellar Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Always worth checking, these two for Instance a good chance that they are not Original, However, you never know. Jimmie Raye/Philly dog around the world/KKC label S-002 Anne Perry/That's the way he is/ Theoda label /T-201 Some nice tunes there.

This is their first airing since the 70s as the guy no longer follows NS The Jimmie Raye one is a pale blue label with a large KKC on the left of the label The Ann Perry one is pale green How would I know how to spot a boot ?

I think he was the DJ at my school youth club circa 1978 with those sounds. I heard Jimmie Raye for the first time in 25 years a few weeks back and blimey it sounded fantastic. Jem Britttin Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 It seems like they are all 70s pressings /boots widely available at the time from dealers like Colin Bee...I know cos i still got mine not worth a great deal i would'nt think but a few are British issues / reissues . which can create a bit of intrest .,I have seen the M.V.P.S. make reasonable money on ebay 20 quidish ....hope this helps

The Jimmy Raye record has an Extremely good Counterfeit. However slim the chance, worth checking.

45cellar Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) BOTH BOOTS SORRY TO BURST THE BUBBLE GASHER Yes, Unfortunately they are. As I said earlier, always worth checking. Original Records have turned up in the past, wrongly assumed to be a Boot. There was an Original copy of The Sweets on Soul Town turned up on ebay the last year.>>> LINK <<< Edited February 11, 2009 by 45cellar
Rich B Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Yes, Unfortunately they are. As I said earlier, always worth checking. Original Records have turned up in the past, wrongly assumed to be a Boot. There was an Original copy of The Sweets on Soul Town turned up on ebay the last year.>>> LINK <<< There some decent(ish) boots of Jimmy Raye around - but sadly this isn't one. The originals are dark blue. The Ann Perry should be styrene plastic, and on the originals there is a rosette on the label, though I can't recall what it said on the rosette. Free tunes are free tunes though! Best, RB
paup-ine Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 This is my Jimmmie Raye, although its a counterfeit (I think- and I keep reading the description in JM's - but it never changes!! ) I like to pretend its real. Looks good on the shelf!! P
Madmandy Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 Hi guys thanks for the info on the vinyl Gasher...Bubble not burst ..none of them cost me a penny ...would have loved some of them to be originals..but I'm not bitter I think about this ..that somewhere out in the world there are small boxes of vinyl in attics garages etc etc that haven't seen the light of day for years full of original records that collectors would drool over pay big bucks for and the person that keeps them merely because theres a small amount of sentimental value attached to them and their youth ! Admittedly I have bought boots not knowing they were as I have limited knowledge of vinyl and values All I know is my box has gained some more vinyl for my pleasure to play on my old vinyl player Cheers Mand

Here's mine which looks very much like the one on popsike although I have always believed mine to be a boot Cheers
Jerry Hipkiss Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I didn't realise there were so many different Jimmie Raye boots. What are the differences between boot and original please? Listen to the fadeout - the dark blue boot (which was the first AFAIK) has a clearly audible sound dropout. Dead giveaway!
