Soul Brothers six - I'll be loving you, will never leave my top ten. Never say never. But so far The Charades - Key To My Happiness has never left my Top 10. It's gone up and down the chart over the the years but never dipped below (or even as far down as) No. 10. Cheers Phil

Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Well for anyone who goes to Peterborough venues who know me will know that my all time fav tune is Sam Cooke - Sugar Dumpling and it is a song that holds true to my heart then most songs. Still wanting The Valetino's version In fact a funny little story was speaking to a friend on the net who likes same music hero as me and i said about Northern Soul and she had no idea what it was i said Sent her some songs one being Sam Cooke - Sugar Dumpling and her reply was i loved this record years ago. So i was like wow and she had no idea it was Northern soul 2 other records that never get out of my top 10 is Moses Smith - The Girl Across the Street and Jackie Wilson - Open The Door To Your Heart
Guest Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 ...which no doubt evolves & changes many, many times, are there any records that maintain it's position in the hallowed chart? Soul Brothers six - I'll be loving you, will never leave my top ten. Darrell Banks - Angel Baby I heard it played on friday night , for the first time in years at a venue . It is still as vibrant to these tabs , as it was on first hearing it , many many moons ago ....... Malc Burton
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Little Richard' "Keep A Knockin'" has been my # 1 record for around half a century, so I suppose it always will be... I'd have to say, though, that the # 1 record from 'our scene' will probably always be Jackie Wilson's "I Don't Want To Lose You", and for oh so many reasons....
Guest thenogger Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 LOVE YOU BABY - EDDIE PARKER. The first record i heard at the TORCH. regards thenogger

Koolkat Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Joe Matthews for me.........Aint Nothing You Can Do. Always been there, followed closely by The Marvellos.......Somethings burning. James Barnett....Keep On Talking is in there as well.
Geoff Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 It would be really hard to pick a top 10, but it would always include These Memories by Almeta Lattimore. Loved it when I first heard it and my love for it has grown over the years for various reasons. Usually gets me a bit emotional. Also it would definitely include Walter Jackson's It's An Uphill Climb To The Bottom. Finally got it on vinyl just over a year ago, despite loving it from my first hearing back in the 60s. My top 10 would also have to include Ruby's Feminine Ingenuity and Mel Britt's She'll Come Running Back. Both always get me out on the dance floor; thanks to Arthur Fenn for playing the former for me last night at Boomerang. After those 4 it gets complicated. Just so many wonderful tunes, depends on circumstances and how I feel at the time. We are so lucky to have such a wealth of music.
