anyone know this

i got a pile of old acetates in the post and am trying to id those i don't know or which are not named.

this sounds strangely familiar but only in a VERY tip of the tongue sort of way.

there is no name or title on the disc - just the name 'starlight' which means nothing to me.

help wd be much appreciated?

cheers

Heard diff version.

I wanna be your everything. Pretenders.

Actually, I prefer this version!

:shades: I'd have thought Mr Ady C would be the man to answer this as he released the rather lovely 3 cd set of Carnival releases and as i dont have mine to hand cant confirm if this is the Pretenders alt. take or not butit is the same song.

Whatever it is, it has almost the same backing track as "I Won't Cry" by Tony Daniels on Beval. Very nice tho!

Deffo "I wanna be" originally done by the Manhattans. Is this the Manahattans?

I would be very surprised if this is the Pretenders doing an alternate take. This is far superior. Reall like this :shades:

ah the manhattans must have been what was on tip of tongue

not them though is it?

not the pretenders either i don't think

aaaarrrghh

Sounds nothing like the Manhattans version, too far removed to be an alternative from that session I'd have thought.  I think it's Peter Starstedt.

Dunno Pete, brain a wash with ale from last night, not saying it's from same session but still think it sounds like same lead. I'll have another listen when head clears a bit thumbsup.gif:shades:

i've got it now

knew i knew it

it's the b side to a record i already have (the other side of the acetate is buggered and can't be played, otherwise it would have been easy (assuming it's the same a side)

for those interested in trying to work it out it's a guy spin from the 80s...

What no they didn't record it? They did you know.

Here's the lyrics....

Be My Little Girl

I wanna be your lover and your honey

I wanna be your good luck and your money

I wanna always keep on your side

I wanna be your protector and your guide

I wanna spend my whole life baby, whole life loving you

I wanna do things to make you love me too

I wanna buy you, oh baby, the whole wide world

All you have to do, baby, is be my girl

Just be my girl

I'll be your everything

Just be my girl

I wanna be your diamonds and pearls

All I ask of you baby is be my girl

I wanna hug and kiss you every night

Please be my girlfriend, everything is all right

Be my little girl

And everything is gonna be all right

Be my little girl

And everything is gonna be all right

Words and music by Bickerton/Waddington

Available on the Undertakers 1996 album The Undertakers Unearthed.
