spirit Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 You are right, though they haven't changed the name on IMDB. "Souled-Out" always struck me as a tacky, cheap pun, and not exactly a title to inspire confidence in the film itself. Perhaps it was a working title; or there's a change in plan; or an admin error when updating the website and the name is not changed; or they just want to maintain interest. Who knows? So, what should the film be called?

Guest happycat Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Spent time last summer on the set for this film .... the dancing scenes are supposed to be something else. Think Souled Out was just a work in progress title. Agree it is tacky ... but am liking the new one ... seems to give it more kudos, but could backfire if film's northern soul essence is, as has already been said, just a backdrop
Diggin' Dave Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 "Souled-Out" always struck me as a tacky, cheap pun, and not exactly a title to inspire confidence in the film itself. The title "a northern soul film" also won't go down as the most inventive title ever given to a film I'm afraid... still hoping that it'll be nice to watch though.

Guest JSF Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Great name for the film .... beats the current title. Hey thanks! And just in case you are on the production team, I'm open to negotiation : For that Mel Gibson film about kidnapping, Disney Studios' Joe Roth paid $600,000 to Columbia Pictures for the title RANSOM. (If you're keeping score at home, that's over half a million for one word! I wonder if the script cost that much?) Quote from HERE.

Guest andyrattigan Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 It might turn out to be a good film. No one has seen the flick yet every one is so down about it.

spirit Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 It might turn out to be a good film. No one has seen the flick yet every one is so down about it. Yeah, despite my own facetious effort, I was hoping for some serious attempts. I hope its a good film. There's been a few - notably Russ Vickers - but my own knowledge of this music is too new and pathetic to come up with any good ones.

Take it from me Lee, it ain't going to happen mate This film has already been argued over on here and I really don't think many people give a shit any more. We will all watch it when it comes out no doubt, but as for high expectations...

We will all watch it when it comes out no doubt, but as for high expectations... Very true....strange isnt it..when those behind the film were fishing for extras for the dance scene...they were on here all the time...stating their reasons for making a film and i quote Using Northern Soul As A Backdrop.......Unquote....when folk started to question them further ...a wall of defence sprung up.....followed by some patronising retorts from the production team.....so for me ..it seems like the film has come and gone...Delxxxx

Guest Bogue Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 What? (The Same Few) People have done nothing but have a laugh about it on this thread so far! See the SS knitting circle is back ... What were they called again Pete ? I know what I would do if I was the film director... I'd introduce some extra characters & name them the same as you moaners for a laugh...... for instance..the main guy in the film could go & visit his Granny who suffers from Tourets called 'Jumping Joan' ... or he could have a cousin called 'Paul Sadot' who cuts his ear off whilst suffering for his art over his school play production ....Or how about a fat crap dancer in an Arsenal shirt & spencers called 'Simsy' Any others ? ... be kind though...it's meant just a bit of fun. Seriously though...how many times...lets wait till it's finished & been seen before passing judgement ! ... I would imagine 99% of films would fail if film critics judged by film plot & pre release propoganda alone !!! That said... bit of a crap title if it has changed
