Malc Burton ...The pedant in me feels compelled to point out that 5 of the 19 actual releases on Dave's SC label had been out on UK labels before (101, 102, 105, 111, 117) so 25% of it was a reissue label! Soul-slider
The more recent releases on the label did throw up a few surprises...how about Johnny Sayles 'Tell Me (Where I Stand)' on the flip of 'I Can't Get Enough...' never before released on vinyl and a stonker of a tune!! Got to be worth a punt surely? Link to comment Social source share
Dave Pinch
as tony rounce says, some releases had been issued on uk labels b4. but all releases were made a couple of years, in some cases 5 or 6 years b4 they came out in the uk. so looking at it that way it was one of the first reissue labels dave sunday chill out. 1st march, horse and groom pub east laith gate doncaster with bri and dave pinches, joe lakin, mick waddington+ guests ian johnson and white markley Link to comment Social source share
NEV
I was told the other week that Shirley Lawson had fetched £450 for a minter : can anyone confirm this to be correct ? Malc Burton I've always been of the opinion this is rarer and more desirable than the BACKBEAT copy so wouldnt doubt the £450 tag. Link to comment Social source share
Dave Pinch
I've always been of the opinion this is rarer and more desirable than the BACKBEAT copy so wouldnt doubt the £450 tag. wouldnt have thought so. i personally have had several soul city copies. only got a backbeat copy at the minute. £200 0n either label but 2 and half years between release dates. guess which came first the big price tag was on JM dave Edited February 9, 2009 by dave pinch Link to comment Social source share

Took me the best part of 30 years to find another & the copy I bought was the very same copy I sold in the late 70s. Also paid less for it than I sold it for. Denbo
I was wondering, were Gerry & Paul's The Cat Walk / Little Bit Of Soul likely contenders for a Soul City label release? Only, I was given a cassette tape off Dave Godin and both these tracks were on there, along with Chris Jackson's Since There's No Doubt.
