Pet Sounds is a great shout, what an album.

Would have had Itchycoo Park but Ged had already been there so will go for either Waterloo Sunset or Street Fighting Man.

A stunning record from my youth...so a couple of weeks ago I brought a copy off ebay(for old times sake) It was a nice aussi copy.........and it was shite...A sort of watered down version...?????????? any ideas as to why it's a different take?

also...did the british version on mgm start with loads of manic laughter? The aussi one dosent...but the version I have on mp3 does !!!

This thread may have run before, but what's your single favourite pop record from the 60's?

I know, it's hard to narrow down to one (or two!) but makes for better reading than endless lists (IMHO)

Here's your starter from the Day household....

Alone Again Or - Love

My fave. Bloody beautiful melody, stunning arrangement, a perfect record from first note to the last.

Theme from Fireball XL5.....Don Spencer... ohmy.gif

Elvis Presley ~  Suspicious Minds  ~ RCA Victor 9764

"We're caught in a trap...."

What an opening line... sets the tone for the rest of the lyrics.....

Actually, i think i would go along with that.

Alison, my friend swears by this record ! It's got everything a thinking man's pop record should have - this is the best choice of out and out pop on this thread yes.gif:thumbsup:

Also can I put forward Lovin Spoonful "darling be home "

Good call John. I used to fancy Venus like mad when I was a young boy (until Dianna Rigg came along...)

However, I have to go for:

Group X - "There are 8 Million Cossack Melodies - and this is one of them" Fontana 1963

Godz

"Nah, stick with 'Herb' and his magic trumpet." if this was a carry on movie this quote would be followed by a classic Sid James cackle make no mistake ohmy.gif
