Pete S Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Accept the fact that you alone, singularly, know that your view on this music is correct? Think before you answer now. Which music in particular?
Phild Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Accept the fact that you alone, singularly, know that your view on this music is correct? Think before you answer now. A bit of a non question really. Not just with "this music". Each of us probabaly thinks our view on everything is correct. That's human nature. Views are open to change though. Through either experience or persuasion. That too is human nature. Phil
Guest dundeedavie Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 if you thought your view on anything was wrong you would amend your view to the right one .....so YES i think my view on EVERYTHING is right
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 YES i think my view on EVERYTHING is right ...and i KNOW mine is!!!!
Guest Gavin Page Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Accept the fact that you alone, singularly, know that your view on this music is correct? Think before you answer now. Just got in Barry?
Guest Matt Male Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Accept the fact that you alone, singularly, know that your view on this music is correct? Think before you answer now. Since all appreciation of music (any music) is subjective then you always believe you are correct surely, if you didn't you wouldn't have a positive view (or negative view) of music. If i like something i'm never going to admit i'm wrong for liking it (that would be stupid). We're all correct in our opinions, that's where the debate lies...
Epic Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 (edited) If we all thought alike we would end up with "The Northern Soul Top 500" a scene where the same tired old records get played over & over again!!!! What are the chances of that happening ????????????? Edited February 7, 2009 by epic
Rhino Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Accept the fact that you alone, singularly, know that your view on this music is correct? Guest Beeks Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 One mans shite is another mans gold and who is to say which one is right...subjectivity is probably the one thing that keeps any scene going...I happen to think I have good taste...some soulies might look through my box and disagree...but without such diversity...like epic said...everyone would be settling for the top 500 and this genre would have fell flat on its face a long time ago
Guest Soultown andy Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Just got in Barry? Thats probably got a lot to do with the question.
Little-stevie Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Maybe you could bring out a book of these epic questions Barry... ... The answer must be yes for all.... Or is there anyone playing/listening/dancing to tunes they don't like ... There is no real need for that, you can buy endless cds for home and go to so many different events with diverse taste.. Enough of thought now.... Its the weekend Would be nice if you open up a topic with your view Barry????
KevH Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Barry, why not just call someone a tw*t,then we'd be able to follow that. .
ZapatootheTiger Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 No one's opinion on anything is ever wrong, I reckon. However, the base information for that opinion may be incomplete or incorrect. Just my opinion (which is right!)
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 It's a fact we all say we have the right views therefor Sam Cooke - Sugar Dumpling is the best Northern soul record of all time but again that's my opinon and to another it could be dire. what a funny question to ask though maybe it should be how many of you hate to admit you are wrong
Guest Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Accept the fact that you alone, singularly, know that your view on this music is correct? Think before you answer now. I know nowt about owt ......... Malc Burton

Guest Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 if you thought your view on anything was wrong you would amend your view to the right one .....so YES i think my view on EVERYTHING is right The only time I was wrong was when I thought I was
Cunnie Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I happen to like Soulful Dance music - was it around in Sam Cooke's day then? It's all Soulful Dance music Andy, just that we all move the goalposts round to suit our particular tastes.
Guest Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I happen to like Soulful Dance music - was it around in Sam Cooke's day then? going back to Dick Van Dyke's post , I meant " Sugar Dumpling " : god you cannot get the staff these days Malc Burton
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 (edited) my god, wow what a convo that would be if Sam Cooke was still alive and i met him to ask did you like Sugar Dumpling Sam? MikeHinNewJersey Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Accept the fact that you alone, singularly, know that your view on this music is correct? Think before you answer now. Absolutely not....that is why I come on here to be educated by those who have better taste and are wiser than I
Garethx Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 My views on everything are fundamentally wrong. I'm very glad that the internet exists for people to point out the error of my ways.
Guest Richard Bergman Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 My views on everything are fundamentally wrong. I'm very glad that the internet exists for people to point out the error of my ways. Sarcasm is the highest form of wit my friend.
Benji Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Accept the fact that you alone, singularly, know that your view on this music is correct? Think before you answer now. There are always two views on everything. My view and the wrong one...
Guest andyrattigan Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 No offence Barry but I dont really know what you are on about????? Are you asking do people think that their views on Soul or Northern Soul are the only right views or what? If so, then every one is entitled to their own opinion about Soul Music, the Soul scene, and their own personal preferences and tastes. In certain circumstances there are no right and wrong answers just different opinions. unfortunately people forget that others are entitled to hyold different opinions and there is no point falling out over such trivial matters.
Guest Roddy Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 God, barry another question that has no answer !!!!!!!!!!!!! (except the one the voice in my head is telling me is the right one !!!!).
Lindsay Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 oh good lord ...the answer to this is soooo obvious....I'm a woman so therefore I know better than the whole lot of you men...so therefore my opinion is correct
Guest Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 oh good lord ...the answer to this is soooo obvious....I'm a woman so therefore I know better than the whole lot of you men...so therefore my opinion is correct she's right you know
Paul-s Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Accept the fact that you alone, singularly, know that your view on this music is correct? Think before you answer now. UH? Its correct to me...dont know if correct is the right word. How else can it be?
Barry Posted February 13, 2009 Author Posted February 13, 2009 Upon reflection, the way that I worded that question does make it a bit of a non question. Fair do's.
