Its time to come clean...

I'm just an ordinary northern soul bloke who 'loves' the UK Northern Soul Scene and everything it stands for. OK there are some shits out there but that's life.

When Malc Burton (TOUNGE IN CHEEK) suggested via a private email "if Wigan Casino can have a reunion night in a shopping centre then can't we put up a tarpaulin on the Hose Street site and have a TORCH REUNION" I laughed out loud.

We discussed the possibility of a reunion and on my Mam's wedding anniversary Feb 6 th 2009, I thought ""in for penny in for a f**kin pound" and decided to test the temp of the water via a Soul Source posting, 42 days later the 300 capacity event is a SELL OUT,.

We are doing all we can to entice/bribe ALL the original dj's to come along for the evening session, the afternoon session is sorted, a 4 hour tribute to the Torch where those that were just patrons at the time can after all these years pay tribute to the small back street venue in Tuntsall and play their top 10 ten Torch Sounds of all time..

2 to 2-30 OZZ - FROM STOKE

2-30 to 3 Swish FROM YORK

3-to 3-30 Poke FROM STAMFORD

3-30 to 4 Tony Dellar FROM CAMBRIDGE

4- 4-30 Ian Cunliffe FROM LOWTON

4-30 to 5 Chris Lalor FROM BELGIUM

5 to 5-30 Nige Brown FROM STAFFORD

5-30 to 6 Pat Wallace FROM WALSAL?

The evening session is to be confirmed however IF what we believe may happen then boy's and girl's it will be a night to remember........

CONFIRMED ARE...........Blue MAX, DAVE EVISON, COLIN CURTIS plus two others, tbc

It only remains for me to thank everyone; to name them would be impossible as there are too many. One thing for sure the Torch Lives on...Last Tuesday I visited the old Torch site with Nige Brown and Jez Jones, I took a few photos for Nige outside the plaque and then watched him walk about where the Torch used to stand,

He looked around like I did thinking, "nah this wasn't the Torch" however his association with the Torch goes back further than my TWO excursions in 1973 and to that end can fully appreciate why someone so attached to the greatest NS venue of all time had a small tear in his eye. And a massive lump in his throat

Oct 24TH the Torch Reunion...at last closure on my teenager years, thanks to everyone who has made it possible... x

Cya all at the Torch Plaque, Hose St at 1300 hrs Oct 24th for the mother of Team Photos, the class of 72/73 lives on

I know where Brownie was coming from .......

The last time I was in Hose Street , was to take photographs ( a couple are shown below ) of the site where The Torch stood .

As I turned into Hose Street , the hairs on the back of my neck and arms stood up , and I got goosepimples - such was the effect The Torch had on me , and still had on me - 35 years after it closed .........

God knows what I will be like on October 24th .

Just let me add to that, when we had done we walked back to the square via the 'cobbled alley' at the bottom of the road.

First time I had done that--in 36+ years

It was always our preferred route :ohmy: when walking to and from the Torch . Anyone remember it?

Its still a dingy, seedy alley now--fcukin brilliant!!! Frightening to think of some of the goings on down there

I never bothered to use the male traps , as it was a struggle to find the old lad

I did once use them though ........ and went flying full length onto my back , after slipping off the bottom step .

a personal apology to those that have not as yet paid for their reserved Torch Reunion Tickets...(you also have e-mail)

I may have misled you in yesterdays UPDATE email.

The Torch Reunion has now sold out, however the tickets you have all reserved are here waiting to be despatched when payments have been received.

From this morning we have started to compile a standby list for any unwanted reserved tickets, therefore in the event you are unable to attend please advise so we may offer your reserved tickets to folk who are on said list.

As suggested when we confirmed your ticket reservations and payment procedure we would appreciate payment in full by close of buisness 28th March 2009, if payments are not received by that date unfortunately we will have no alternative but to cancel your reservation with us and again pass on to those on the stand by list.
