Found out years ago that it was considered to be issued on Chess ,according global dog productions (record label information web site) it seams it was !!!!!! chess 2016 as far as i know it was released locally on penny only. anyone know different?

Yes thats my understanding but Penny was a subsiduary of Chess - Was also rumoured that it was the Chessmen but never seen any confirmation of that either.

penny was NOT a subsidiary of chess. In another thread here someone clarified who the chessmen were (just some chess musicians). I would have to search to find the thread.

Chess had many licensed in records from other labels, and many are listed on the discography but were never actually released.

thanks boba i thought you might reply to this :yes: this matta is closed then :D heres another which Boba maybe can help with geradine Hunt I let myself go on checker 1025 was it recorded in detriot!?? cuz it sounds so much like an Mary Wells type of thing.

Sorry Boba - I thought they were a subsiduary - However Im sure Ive seen a Penny label saying distributed by Chess .

Hi. I haven't seen one -- I am interested in seeing it if you can dig it out and scan it. Even if they were, though, they weren't a chess subsidiary, the label was run by Morry Alpert who ran the MET record shop (and the MET label) and run by Chicago DJ Richard Pegue in the 60s... along with the Nickel label. Thanks.

Why was the matta baby put on a Chess cd then? cannot remember the name of it but will find it and come back with the title!

Cheers for the link to MET I certainly didnt know that although I remeber in my youth discussing the Nickel label.
