Ive heard it out a few times down the years. Its a classic instrumental. It was one of thhose goldmine Wigan Casino comps a few years back.

It's a fantastic slab of hard core New Orleans guitar plucking that always makes me nod approvingly, on my way to the dance-floor, when I hear it out. So much so that I re-purchased it a couple of weeks ago after selling it last year to raise funds for a want.

didn't one of em pass away last year, think it was g.davis, but don't quote me!

Wasn't it an extra track added to an Aaron Neville album as a filler? Might be wrong. Old Cats and Wigan sound, sounds ten times better loud than it does at home though...

Yep, killer instrumental! I remember it from Mecca and Wigan and you're right - sounds fantastic LOUD!

A Big Inst back in the mid 70s,well it was at St Ives

it`s better than some of the Inst stuff i`ve heard played out recently :D

Monster everywhere at the end of '74. Isn't the flip side an Aarron Neville track? By which I mean of course, AN is probably the 'A' side. Fetched big money before it was bootlegged.

The originals that were in circulation pror to being pressed had red on the label somewhere. Now I think about it, I might be wrong about the flipside (serves me right for being a smartarse!) I sold up about 9 years ago though, and I know I haven't seen one since. So apologie smay be in order..

I think the bootlegs were grey on white - if memory serves - which clearly it doesn't always!

Was "bet your surprised" the intended a-side? it's a joke on the listener, as it starts off sounding like it's gonna be "tell it like it is" and then switches.

I have a real un for sale (same as Mr Fleming's scan from earlier)

Cannae remember the condition though (think it's VG++) so if anyone interested, please PM me and i'll dig it out and check.

Won't be cheap though cos i reckon it's a ton or so for a minter so will be reduced dependent on condition?

Cheers

The reason why I ask is I purchased mine from a junk shop in Peterboro for 10p many moons ago thinking it were a boot, mine is exactly the same however the red star is on the flip side of hold on help etc, anyone know what the signifficance of that red star is.

You're right, it was on an Aaron Neville CD, credited to him, which is why I bought the CD - I thought I'd discovered the vocal version! Doh!!

Apparently the album ran out of money half way through so the instumental tracks are all on one side i think.

I will dig it out at the weekend to make sure.

Nice one Steve, hope you find the Darryl Stewart too mate

As Boba said about the flip side of the bootleg, "Bet you're surprised" is a lot like "Tell it like it is" in its opening, but make sure to give it a listen right through. Great track, especially the changes in key towards the end.

I'm not sure now, thinking back to the distant past, but I know I got mine in a soul pack. Although I bought quite a few of 100, I seem to remember this one, along with Gwen Owens and a few others, being in a pack of 40 that I got from a guy in Godalming in Surrey - does that ring a bell with people?

Hi Steve. What Darryl Stewart are you looking for? I have a couple of copies of each and I may be able to provide you with what you're looking for. I have the second pressing of Name It And Claim It (spelled correctly) and a the Musicor release. I'm not sure what kind of shape they're in. And I'm not selling, I'm giving. I just need to check how many copies I have. You can send me an email or message to let me know if you're interested.
