Chuck, Johnny, Robbie, Desi, Pete T, Melvin?? champion the benefits of conspicuous consumption. If this picture came with a soundtrack it would be Jerry Cook, no doubt....From the time when a Wheel badge, one black "Dents" driving glove & a braided blazer meant something...Nij (with the polaroid camera)

I always liked to wear / favoured a blazer back in the days when I were a lad , but the lapels were hand stitched , as braided edging always reminded me of my boarding schooldays  ........

I always smile when I see a mention of the obligatory " one black leather driving glove " ( also guilty as charged your honour of the crime ) . In these days of retro fashions being popular with / on the scene , why have they not made a comeback ? - or have I just not been observant ? ......

Well, Malc have had a recent encounter with driving glove/s. Its xmas day and all the family are round and its time for 'dad(me) to open his presents.

I duly oblige and unfurl various niceties such as socks, aftershaves etc---you get the picture  . Eldest daughter says 'dad you've missed one' So she presents this nicely wrapped parcel to me and I unwrap to reveal a pair of leather driving gloves :P . They are the spittin image of the ones from back in the day ---black skin tight leather with cut out knuckles. i was made up and spent most of xmas morning parading around the house with one glove on  . daughter not impressed thinks I am taking the 'michael' out of her present

Anyway , they are pride and place in the car glove compartment and when I remember I put em on. Wife not impressed says i'm up and down like 'Jason King' :)

My Mrs found my 1972 John Collier (never never ) book and the attcahed order the other week. Grey cloth with light blue check with drawings on exactly how the pocket flaps needed to be, how many buttons on the sleeve, how wide the troosers, how high the turnups, every request that the fellar thought was outragous had to be countersigned, it was like a mini bus hire agreement form.

Did anyone else have "The secret pocket" ?
