(£105.17) I got a mint demo for £35 about three years ago and i've seen it since for a similar price...somebody was desperate! Ste. Bullsh*t price - it's a £40 / £45 record - anybody who pays more needs to go and stand in the corner with a dunce's hat on... M
Cover-up Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Looking at his completed prices, that one doesn't stand out as being the craziest... Some good results there for sure. Makes you wonder what he'd have got for "Make Me Believe In You" - now THAT'S a tune...
kevinsoulman Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 i bought a twelve inch remix of make me believe in you on atlantic i think a few years ago and struggled to tell what was remixed must dig it out kev

Jerry Hipkiss Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 i bought a twelve inch remix of make me believe in you on atlantic i think a few years ago and struggled to tell what was remixed must dig it out kev If that's the Ashley Beedle remix, the intro's looped to destruction ....got it on a Jap CD compilation with an instr. as well.
Jason S Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 It's what is known to Vocabers (which will mean nothing unless you know what Vocab is - see funk board for more) as 'A Lucky Sami'. In other words, ebaying £40ers and getting twice if not three times that, almost everytime.

Anybody needs a copy of this here Patti Jo 12" - I'll definitely have a couple here - going "cheep cheep" - lemme know - ok? M

Jerry Hipkiss Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 That intro's almost four minutes long - had to break for the news and then come back with the vocal!
Dean Rudland Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 That intro's almost four minutes long - had to break for the news and then come back with the vocal! Without being too pedantic its a re-edit not a remix. It was one of Ashley's favourite tracks and that's why we had him do that edit for our OST Recordings label, about ten years ago. It's available on the compilation of the mixes that we did on EMI a few years back https://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-Block-Par...1939&sr=1-2 Dean
Cover-up Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 "Make Me Believe In You" had an extended mix done in the 70s - think the album was called (no doubt imaginatively at the time...) "Disco Gold" - all Scepter/Wand mixes if i remember correctly. Which I often don't. In fact, I'm sure there was another Patti Jo mix on there - might even have been "Ain't No Love Lost". Must go and dig it out... Anyone know anything else about Patti Jo? Or Sami's magic sales techniques?!

Tomangoes Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 In the build up to the World Cup 2006, BBC1 put out a programme about what teams had qualified, and the backing track used was 'Make me believe in you'. These soul lubbers get everywhere. Ed
Guest Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Another version of "Aint no love lost".?.Like to hear it Cover-up. Hi Kev - first done by Melba Moore on Buddah - superb version - had a 7" release as well as LP - shouldn't cost mo than an Ayrton for the 7" - will pop a clip up later if I get time to dig mine out - ok? Didn't Curtis hisself also do a version? Yep - on his 'Got To Find A Way' album - also very tidy...still miss Curtis - oh boy! They don't make em like him anymore, that's for sure...I recently heard some 'talking head' trying to compare Kanye West to Curtis the other day - a piece on 'creativity' - well, as you can imagine, I nearly threw the radio in the dishwasher and hit the 'rinse' button.... MRez Didn't know it was a Melba Moore track first. The Scepter version of "ANLL" by Patti Jo is timed at 3.18,which is long enough for a heathen like me . Backed with "Stay away fro me"(Major Lance did it too),a track that i give the occassional spin when i can. Both superb sides. Posting up the MMoore version Mark? Edited January 30, 2009 by KevH

Guest soulmaguk Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 There is a Norman Jay slight remix of 'Make Me Believe' on Jouneys for DJs CD. Thats what can push the value of such hidden records up.

Guest Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I paid $40 for a mint/unplayed copy on ebay two years ago. Patti Jo shouldn't be more than already suggested - like £30-£35. But I watched some of this guy's auctions, and some just went crazy high. PAMOJA Ooh Baby....went for $237.50. It is suppose to be like $100. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=110341472455 EL SHOBEY & CO Whole Thing....it went for $147.50....It is suppose to be like $40. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=110341463889 Sons of Kingdom....went $207.50. I am not sure about the rate here, but isn't it like $50? https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=110341476751 Perhaps the seller is not as lucky as he seems to be. I have seen something similar before. Some times someone just goes in and sabotages auctions......and I dont know what you could gain from sabotaging other people's auctions, but it does happen.

Guest Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I was the seller on these and they are all payed so no "sabotage" Congratulations on the sales then. Nice prices .....the reason why I had the suspicion is due to an experience I had a couple of years ago. I was bidding on two $100 lps, and in the last minute they both went to like $500. The seller got in touch me with afterwards to let me know that his auctions had been sabotaged, and that they were still available.....

Maybe, either that or he was bumping up the price with another account he has, very common...
