I can see (hear) where Dan's coming from with the 'steel drum' sound  (think it is a glockenspiel-type thing though)

didn't they call them Vibes back in the 60's USofA?  Jack Ashford used to play them.

Vibraphones are the ones with the resonating tubes hanging down under the metal keys, glockenspiels just metal keys without tubes, xylophones wooden keys. (I knew studying music would come in handy one day  )

The original acetate is very crackerly and someone had tried to clean it up digitally, but when you make a (low quality) mp3 of such a recording, you often get 'steel drums' - listen to the very end.

Maybe we'll get there, Pete, before some turns up the masters?!!!!

Ion told me he leant it to Guy who cut several acetates, The original then got worn out. But the second generation Acetates may be in better health if you can find one

I can hear them too Dan

Is Roy Ayers in the band ?

Or perhaps it's the musical equivalent of 'Close Encounters of tHe Third Kind' and only the 'selected ones' can hear them

I thought Pete S was knocking them out.

The only drawback is it takes two of us to lift it on to the turntable!

No, they aren't metal discs anymore, they're plastic! Even you could lift one
