Guest rachel Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 I can see (hear) where Dan's coming from with the 'steel drum' sound (think it is a glockenspiel-type thing though)
Chalky Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 (edited) didn't they call them Vibes back in the 60's USofA? Jack Ashford used to play them. Edited May 10, 2005 by chalky
Guest rachel Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 didn't they call them Vibes back in the 60's USofA? Jack Ashford used to play them. link Vibraphones are the ones with the resonating tubes hanging down under the metal keys, glockenspiels just metal keys without tubes, xylophones wooden keys. (I knew studying music would come in handy one day )
Simon T Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 weird can definitely hear steel drums on mine pete take it all back if they aren't on there as i say, sounds very nice (except for either the steel drums or what sounds like steel drums!) link The original acetate is very crackerly and someone had tried to clean it up digitally, but when you make a (low quality) mp3 of such a recording, you often get 'steel drums' - listen to the very end. Maybe we'll get there, Pete, before some turns up the masters?!!!!

Maybe we'll get there, Pete, before some turns up the masters?!!!! link Ion told me he leant it to Guy who cut several acetates, The original then got worn out. But the second generation Acetates may be in better health if you can find one
