Quinvy Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Salt And Pepper - Man Of My Word, can i afford it? Personally can't understand why you would want to. Knackered copy as well by the sound of it.

Corbett80 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 (edited) I was going to say the same...why would you want it? Because its excellent?! Particularly love the break down in the middle with him telling her how it is over the organ backing....stunning Edited January 26, 2009 by mulf
Steve G Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 No bad but the condition is!!! Jees you can't even play it out like that.
Marc Forrest Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 (edited) Man, how I love these intelligent ebay "thiefs"....sellers already been asked to pull it for as much as 3000 and 3100 USD and in comes a new joker offering him 1000 USD .."yeah sure, we can do that.." Its amazing, isn`t it..bearing in mind the last one (the one Butch won a couple of months ago) only went for 1800 USD sth. Marc Edited January 26, 2009 by Marc Forrest

Nice record, not 3000$ nice IMO but I heard it today for the first time so I could change my mind pretty quickly.

I agree. Totally great record. Sounds ace on a dancefloor. Fresh as daisy.
Guest Polyvelts Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I agree. Totally great record. Sounds ace on a dancefloor. Fresh as daisy. Had a good old stomp to this at the 1001 club couple of weeks ago , great tune ! Very pricy tho for a tighten up soundalike especially in that nick !

Wally Francis Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 "Oh Yes" now i like that, i could just imagine myself losing it on the dance floor, it's right up my street, Quality. So is there any more info as to who the singers are etc, and have they done anything else. Many Thank's Wally Francis
Pete S Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Why not just by Grazing In The Grass by Friends Of Distinction seeing as this is just a version of that with different vocals. Talk about having more money than sense, quality wise this must be worth all of three quid.
Dave Fleming Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 any idea of what this might go for? https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...I:IT&ih=024 Well it ended at $3,310,not a bad return for the $120 he paid for the 3000 records out of someone`s garage, this 45 was found in that lot,i wonder what else is in there Dave f................

Pete S Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 If Butch started to play Footsee would you all say it was great and start playing it?
Marc Forrest Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 (edited) Come on Pete, with all respect it may not be what you consider Northern Soul but it is still a f*** great Soul tune. And its "fresh". If I wouldn`t have been too tight to spend another 3 grand I wouldn`t have cancelled my snipe on that beauty, so much for sure. I have been after a copy ever since 2005 when said Rare Soul Review CD got me on the hunt for one. The night I wanted to ask Butch if he knew it and had a spare (not having seen the one ebay that month) he played it for the very first time down at the 100 CLUB... I knew it will be too late from now on as some very very imaginative DJ`s as always will sell their home or mother to secure the next copies coming up just to follow bUTCHS`footsteps just once more. And I guess thats just what happened last night on ebay Edited January 30, 2009 by Marc Forrest
Quinvy Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 If that record was £20 you wouldn't look at it. Pish the power of Butch.....

When I did put it on my wants list I didn`t even knew how much it would be...and that was three years before it was played out...Explanations were on the same CD and went on my wants list...50 UKP record. I am looking for one certain 45 very much in the same vein as S&P at the moment...nowhere to be found yet, a mate found one for 30 USD. Marc Edited January 30, 2009 by Marc Forrest
Quinvy Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 It's not just me then! Thank you. I'm a big fan of Butch Pete....but I don't like a lot of the stuff he plays.....but the stuff he plays that I do like.... out of this world.....Martha Jean Love, Mighty Lovers, etc, etc.
Dave Fleming Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 If that record was £20 you wouldn't look at it. Pish the power of Butch..... I would because i like it and regardless of who`s playing it,there`s loads of records i brought back in the 80s because i liked them not because they were played out by big named Djs, and alot of them over the years have turned into indemand records, so the lesson is allways buy what you like, and if it was a £20 record i`d buy two,and wait 10/15 years before it started getting big plays and sell it for loads of ££££ Dave f..........
boba Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 It's not just me then! Thank you. I think it's a decent record, but not amazing. It seems to clearly be a symptom of a scene that has run out of things to play, so people jump on any rare leftover thing that is okay.

boba Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 The scene hasn't run out of things to play. Salt & Pepper is a good record, price maybe a bit OTT, but a good tune. I agree it's good but people wouldn't be dropping $3300 for it if they didn't need new things to DJ with to prove they have a new record. You can get better records at that price.

NEV Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 If that record was £20 you wouldn't look at it. Pish the power of Butch..... Why are people crediting Butch for this ?? It was on a cd compiled by Tim Brown of RARE SOUL dated 2005 and was listed as "ultra obscure". Also on the cd ROBERT TANNER-SWEET MEMORIES LOCATIONS-MR DIAMOND MAN DUSTY WILSON -ITS GONNA BE A TRAGEDY WILLIE -JONES-MY BABY AINT NO PLAYTHING Hardly think it was ever gonna be a £20 record and unlike most of the above hasnt been up for sale much since 2005 .
