Corbett80 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Wonder if these have any relation to the El Paso Premiers......??
Pomonkey Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 They were originally called the Drifters, changed their name when the Atlantic group got known, other 45 have by them isn't a patch on CTBL, that bass-driven breakdown in the middle is ridiculous, hadn't played it for yonks but just pulled out the back of the stacks to play out at our Mighty Hannibal show this Sat, and don't worry T, it's coming over to Italy in a few months

How many known at the moment?
Pomonkey Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I know where just one other is, but that one's not changing hands for sure, not a "known" sound in the least so if you ever find one am sure it'll be cheap, but a few people who've heard it through me have had a fair stab at trying to find another without any luck so far....
Ady Potts Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Wonder if these have any relation to the El Paso Premiers......?? According to Ruben Molina the El Paso Drifters performed with the El Paso Pemiers, the Nite Dreamers & the Las Cruces Majestics at the City Coliseum, so I wonder if the Drifters were Mexican as well ? Ady
Corbett80 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 (edited) Ady I moved on my El Paso Premiers last year and had been told at the time you have one too? Did they do anything else of interest? Hoping there might be a decent Joe Jama-esque 60's dancer by them languishing somewhere! El Paso Premiers might be one for you Michael (if you haven't already got it of course)....thumping latin mod dancer. Edited January 23, 2009 by mulf

Ah, that must be the copy that my mate got then He calls in once a year, plays all my new finds that I've worked real hard to find, writes them down, then goes away & finds them for next to nothing Aint that right Mr.A. !! I stumbled upon the more uptempo side by chance. I purchased a copy for the slow side "This is the beginning" then found the dancer when I flipped it. The Frogdeath label was owned by K.E.L.P. dejay Steve Crosno. Same group as Bobby & the Premiers (Bobby being Bobby Rosales) on the SOULED OUT label, did tracks like "Man about town". Guest Arcticsoulboy Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Here´s a blog about the El Paso scene and Frogdeath with a few soundclips. Check out the mini documentary on Steve Crosno. He must have been one awesome dj to get a day named after him in El Paso! https://lonestarstomp.blogspot.com/2008/05/...-frogdeath.html
