Oooh baby, I'm packing up Leaving this town Oh the blues got me down Since my baby's spreading news around About this new love that she's found I've got my bags waiting at the station I've already made my reservation I can't show my hurt, might lose my reputation Now quite hanging round, making conversation I'm packing up, I've gotto leave, another town, yeah Oh baby, I'm packing up, leaving this town Lonely blues, got me down Since my baby's spreading news around About the new love that's she's found I've got my bags waiting at the station Cuz see this is a bad situation That's why my bags are down at the station Well see this bad situation I'm packing up, I've got leave, another town, yeah Oh baby, oh baby Oh baby Oh, I've got go, I can't take it I can't let you know, I can't take it I can't let you know, I'm gone baby Bye, bye, baby Bye, bye baby Bye, bye baby Bye baby Hippo, Ya good at this. Any chance jotting the Lyrics down to: The Vondells - Hey girl, youve changed, and sending them in. Never been able to figure what they say. Same as Johnny Rogers at points (think the backing bands were too loud on these two!)
Guest Johnny One Trout Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 I don't particularly like "So Is The Sun by World Column" Whenever I hear it all that I can think about is The Jam. I don't mean to be pernickety but shouldn't that be the other way round???? A complete rip off by Weller and co. That said SITS is not exactly my cup of tea nowadays but it was certainly relevant when it was played and bloody massive all over the country for years :o)) John
Guest Johnny One Trout Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 The Futures 'Party Time Man' sure comes in for a lot of stick! Yet why is it that whenever it is played 90% of people get on the dancefloor to it. Can they ALL be wrong, or are some people just being too precious about it? Brian, In a word YES :o))) John
Simon T Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 Hippo, Ya good at this. Any chance jotting the Lyrics down to: The Vondells - Hey girl, youve changed, It's taken me 15 years and nearly wearing out the record to work these out! Still I like the idea of a young lass, in 1967 (?) Miami Valley, Dayton, Ohio turning some young lads heads in her plate-former boots and hip hugger jeans! Well girl you dance and you dress with style I just watched you playing darling in your mini skirt Let do the latest dance Now for sure, just take a chance Now any minute I might lose control And in to your arms I'm gonna go, go Hey girl, my, have you changed! Now when you were my girl you didn't look the same You changed because you love me? Because you love me? Because you love me? Ha, it's all right Hey baby, it's out of sight You wear bell-bottom pants in just the latest style Every time I see you it really stupefies In your plat-former boots and hip-huggers too Girl you look so fair standing in your mini skirt Hey girl, my, have you changed! Now when you were my girl you didn't look the same Did you change because you love me? Because you love me? Because you love me? Hey girl, I need you Hey girl, I want you Hey girl, I want you bad Hey girl, I dig you act Hey girl ??. well alright Hey baby you know it Honey, don't you know it You're out of sight Hey baby, you've changed Oh, sock it to me now because you're looking good Sock it to me, honey, I knew you would You know you're up-tight and out of sight Hey, it's alright Oh baby ???

I'm sure that I read somewhere that Ady played World Column to Mr Weller, although I could be wrong.

I know what you are saying about your point of reference but WC is the version and the Jam (who i've always loved BTW i even married a Jam Groupie ;o)) version pales into mediocrity next to it IMO. John
stomper45 Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 murial day is a record i hated from the 1st time i heard it Prob heard it 999 times since and still think its sh**e danny D
Guest Posted May 17, 2004 Posted May 17, 2004 All tracks produced/murdered by Levine & Co on Strange World of Northern..plus Bruce Forsyth on Blue Cat Granny on a honda - Metromedia (I think) but can't remember the artist? Lynn Randell - Stranger, overrated power pop. Prefer Lulu.
Guest Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 Like you said we all got different taste but I never did like Terrible Tom or Julian Covay( a white bloke from Nottingham) ??? Not too sure what Dean Barlow has to do with Northern Soul either, my mates love it but I cringe every time I hear it.
Guest marco Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 Nice to see that there's a healthy level of scorn for all things Trottover on this site. Dean Barlow and Barbara Redd are two personal red rags, as is Betty O'Brien. Must say, Girl Don't Cry on Lucky Lou and Keep It Up by BJ Thomas take some beeting IMVFHO! Other personal hates - "That's not the way to love" by wotsername and La Reine Lamarr...Jeesus Christ! Do you ever find yourself wondering if you're on the wrong scene?
