I’m wondering whether ‘she devil’ was a Mecca spin George? Was in a box I was going through the other week, The guy who is allot older than I said Ian Levine on that one, can anybody confirm either way?

Not because it’s a particularly great record, but an abiding memory I have of the man is with Margaret Mandolph’s Something Beautiful, when he used to play the intro twice over ‘cos it was incredible’... grinning to myself now just thinking about it... I’ve watched him two or three times in the last few years over here and he rocked the joint. Every time.

Packing Up - Damon Fox .I think he discovered it along with Arthur Fenn .Its hard to think of a more out and out “ Northern “ record ,and what an intro .Think he traded it with Richard Searling as part of the deal to get Larry Houston ( Top Cat c/ u) and ZZ and Company “ Get ready for the get down “ .

Johnny Hampton not my girl  class detriot  . Sam as been a big influence on my musical tastes along with  searling .butch .Ken. guy. Mick h .Andy Dyson and a few others. And in general what Sam plays now the rest usually end up playing as oldies. Remember when he first played flame & king .what's this shite folk used to say now every oldies dj hammers it to death. Long may Samsung influence reign

Not sure if Sam spun this first, but distinctively remember him playing it at Yarmouth weekenders in the mid 90s, love it.

Mal , the handful of Charm City records were all released in or around '79  ... therefore unlikley to be an Ian Levine / Mecca one would think ...

Not sure, think Dave was first I heard play it?

I agree I am a firm believer in credit where credit is due but to give someone credit when it isn’t due diesn’t sit right.  Many Djs have played records they didn’t discover but we dont heap praise on them.

Always been a big fan of Soul Sam, has been playing and breaking loads of superb sounds over the years, but what about HIS WORST RECORDS  -  the Candy Cartoon Carnival springs to mind, and the horrific " Hearbeat" -  Bill Purcell !!   (And yes, all the top DJ's have played a few dogs).

First time I heard Johnny Hampton was in Wigan Casino mid 70's when Richard Searling played it alongside Ronnie McNeir.  I was very impressed!   Sam and Richard had a lot of the top class rarities of the time!
