Guest bradcam Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Whispers: As I Sit Here (Dore) is a great tune and very doo-wop/harmony. As I have generally not been exposed to much in this vein, I invite you all to suggest similar. Cheers, Brad. Whispers on Youtube
Ady Potts Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 One of my favourite harmony songs is this one, again it's on Dore, it went on to become a big hit in East LA with the Latinos...... https://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DgRiaq-zaI8 So nice to see original footage. Great idea for a thread Brad ! Regards, Ady
Guest Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 here's a link to two areas of our site: i'm sure you'll find some interesting tunes here, and quite a few in the "as i sit here" vein. https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/rare-soul-vin...to-80s/GR/all/1 https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/rare-soul-vin...to-60s/DW/all/1 it's a favorite style of music of mine also.
Garethx Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Jerry Butler & The Impressions "For Your Precious Love" is as good a place as any to start: a crucial transitional record between doo-wop and soul and a stone-classic which every soul fan should own. There are usually copies on the Abner and Falcon labels on ebay for not too much money: it sold in vast quantities on its release. Nice too on UK London and very nice indeed on maroon Vee Jay (with a pricetag well into four figures).
