Mark Bicknell Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 After much thought and heartbreak, I have decided to sell off most, if not all, of my Northern Soul collection. It's a reluctant move, but needs must, and I'd rather pay off my credit card than lead a hand-to-mouth existence! So, from 1st Feb, I will be selling off key pieces of the collection on here. Few will be on auction, the others will be set sale. I'll be making available items such as David & Ruben on Rampart (yes, the version with the intro!), The Mar-J's on Magic Touch, The Admirations on Paree, El Baron on Karen, The Contemplations on Dontee, The Mods on Fona, Art Falls on Nautilus, plus more. The first list to appear on the 1st Feb will be an auction list of the rarer items, which will be open for a couple of weeks. Remember where you heard it first..............and watch this space! Gene Very sorry to read this Gene but your not alone mate as I think some of us are very much coming to an end of this long and winding soul road for a number of reasons, I've let go of several big records in recent times to fund my future etc. and it's going fantastic, still love the music, still collect the odd record here and there but the hardcore I must have it at whatever cost has totally gone, I admire and respect all those who are still totally full on with it but for some of us other commitments etc. take over, you are a gentleman sir and good luck with the sales, some will say don't do it as it hurts like hell but soul is from within and that will never leave you mate with or without a record collection trust me. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

Know where you are coming fromMark as sold a massive part of my collection 2 years ago - it hurts but the pain gets easier by still being able to listen to the music we have all grown up with!! Regards - Mark Bicknell. Thanks for the very kind words Mark. Like yourself, I'm sure I'll still buy the odd tune here and there after the majority have sold. Even after selling, the music will never be out of my bloodstream - certainly not after 27 years! I'll still be able to listen to the sounds at home, so not all will be lost. But who knows? Perhaps I should keep buying the lottery tickets and be ever hopeful! Gene

Guest Russ Smith Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 (edited) I'm also sad to hear you selling up but.. I've sold up twice before and am buying back some records for the 3rd time, but most of them I don't miss really... Its impossible for us to get the collecting bug out of our systems completely and I'm sure you will stay involved . All the best mate ! Edited January 12, 2009 by Russ Smith

Md Records Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Gene - Record collecting's a great hobby, but in comparism to Family, Friends etc, they're bits of F***ing plastic mate, and the reality is, it's what's on them that's the real heart of it all. Des Parker
