Arnie,

Did you get a reply to your question?

Guess you didn't 'cos it wasn't about Ian and his Productions and Songs?

Just a guess.

In fact, as you couldn't even be arsed to bother looking down the page, I replied about Soussan in posts 405, 407, 408, 410, 412, and 419.

SATISFIED ?????????

I find Simon Soussan fascinating, although you're right, totally ammoral. When Ian Dewhurst and others posted memories of SS on here a while ago, the wealth of anecdotes was amazing and i thought at the time it should be made into a film. With your contacts in the media Ian have you ever thought of making a film about your life, or maybe the history of the scene?

...and who would you like to play you?

Dale Winton perhaps? Just a thought.

BTW Matt.. like the look of the event in your signature. Off to see what kind of journey it is to Nuneaton.

I can just imagine the reaction of three particular people on here if I ever did.

Tim Brown tells a story about how Soussan was banned from some warehouse for having ripped the owner off, over some records, and when Tim visited he was told Soussan was banned, so Soussan stayed outside yelling through the letter box "Make sure you look for Willie Hutch on Dunhill"

I know Ian gets a lot of stick on here but I feel I have to say my bit, I think it was one of the threads in November where I asked Ian his favourite Records and how many records he still had , he replied with a list of great records and the fact that he had rather a lot of vinyl (80,000 Singles i think ) I (tongue in cheek ) asked he fancied doing me a 'SOUL PACK' , well he pm'd me and offered me 300 records for 300 quid + 30 carriage and I snapped his

hand off. He promised me loads of Obscure stuff and plenty of 20/30 quid records , well they arrived before christmas and I would just like to say

it's the best 300 quid i've ever spent , loads of 60's/70's Obscure/ Northern/modern/Funk/Sweet/ and a few British (Cameo Parkway/Black Atlantic/Pye (Yelow/Red) Soul as described and I could pick out 10 Records now that I could flog for the 300 quid I spent , so what I'm saying is that 'the man did me

good' and i really appreciate that and if any of you need to add to your collections have a word with him 'cause I know he's got plenty to sell !

Thanks again Ian , nice one!!

Saving up for my next pack as we speak

I just want to say that I'd like to do a couple more of these bargain sets - 300 all different for £300 including loads of obscure collectors items.

Please anyone who might like one, please contact me right away.

He'd apparently left the guy's warehouse in the worst mess imaginable on his previous visit, and the guy refused to have him back through the door. He said to Tim Brown - you can come in, but HE stays outside.

I was once in a record store in New Orleans clutching a handfull of Detroit gems when my old mate Paul Franklin started an argument with the owner about why the records were so expensive when they used to be 10c. DOH! Paul ignored me kicking the back of his legs and we were all thrown out. Minus the Detroit gems I might add!

Lesson learnt-Always be polite to record store owners.

There used to be one in Miami who had moved his stock down from Chicago, who was known to be the rudest man in record sales, but he had the most amazing stock of Chicago labels I have ever seen.

I wish I could remember his name.

Have you noticed how, since they moved my thread into this section, it's all but dried up ??? I guess no-one bothers looking in here after all. It had about two hundred times more traffic when it was in the "All About The Soul" section. I guess I should have expected this when Mike Hughes moved it. I feel like one of those George Bush protestors, a few years ago, who got moved to an area where no-one could see or hear them protest.

Just what it is that you are protesting ???? I am a new comer on here and have been reading past and present posts i know very little about records or producing or promoting but i enjoy the scene and the music, i have read and re-read your posts and the only thing you every seem to talk about is YOURSELF !!!!! Am i wrong but i thought that Soulsource is a forum for people interested in the music and the scene ????, in my opinion anyone who uses wording like "eat cyanide and die" (school boy playground springs to mind) should take any criticism thrown at them and should have been removed indefinitely from the community.

The reason it has dried up is because people are sick of hearing "poor me" in every post you make maybe if all you are interested in is YOURSELF then maybe you should form a web page dedicated to "Ian Levine" ?????

How very telling that this is your first ever post on here.

Plus I'm not protesting anything. I was comparing the way my thread had been shut away to the same way people protesting about Bush were shut away out of sight.

But this being your first post speaks volumes about your motivation.

"Shut away out of sight" Err. Not quite true Ian. They were and are kept a considerable distance from public events Bush attended. But have been since the Reagan era. And each successive President has enforced those rules and increased the distances involved.

Anyway, back on topic, is there any footage of Carol Woods "Heading Down Fools Road"

On the plus side though all the insults have (virtually) died out leaving you and other interested parties to discuss matters in a civilized fashion.

When the thread was on All About the Soul it was a bit of a 'car crash' with people looking on just to see what was going to happen.

I think Mike's done you a favour. If people want to talk to you, and there seems to be plenty who do, they will find you wherever the thread is (unless it gets bumped to Freebasing Humour like one of mine did....now that one did die a death).

The majority of people on here just click "new posts" at the top of the page and you can see any new ones since you were last here, so the fact that it's in Look At Your Box has nothing to do with anything - there are more posts in that section than there are in All About The Soul usually anyway.

Tonight, Monday January 5th, 2009, the company of the hit Broadway musical CHICAGO welcomes back Carol Woods in the role of Matron "Mama" Morton, the reigning cell block diva of the Cook County Jail.

Have you produced any Gospel records Ian?

Kev

Sort of.

I did a version of "You Made Me So Very Happy" with Brenda Holoway where she wanted to change the lyrics into gospel, and the same with Laura Lee doing "To Win Your Heart"

But we produced a triple CD box set for my friend Paul Savory, of Pat Lewis singing all gospel songs.

Ian , hope your well , can you tell me how many copies were pressed of 'The Interpretations' & '1st Amendment' ?

and are they now deleted ?

Cheers

Swifty thumbsup.gif

About two hundred of each, and they've not been available from me since 2002.

The Interpretations is in demand for the B side, not the A side.
