Guest Gogs Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Hi Ian have you managed to get your launch sorted out yet? If not good luck hope you get it fixed. gogs
Guest Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 It's the only ever issue. It never got released on Revilot,as far as any of us know. It may be possible that it was one of the sides designated for either Revilot 219 , Revilot 220 or Revilot 221 , which were unissued ........ Malc Burton

Guest Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Hi Ian have you managed to get your launch sorted out yet? If not good luck hope you get it fixed. gogs Ian Dewhirst seems to have found somewhere, but the woman there hasn't called me back yet, and I was in the studio today, doing new tracks with Melissa Bell from Soul To Soul, Tahira Jumah, and Kitty Corbin. We haven't even released "Soul Steppers" yet, and already I'm underway with "Northern Soul 2009". These albums take months of work and planning.
Guest Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 One week to go till Soul Steppers. Wienerworld have even organised an American release for it. ">
Guest Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Slightly off topic but something I'm desperate to work out. Does anybody know who I sold a record to, by Sonny Turner, on a white Musicor demo ?? It would have been about 2005. Maybe 2004. It was kind of sentimental and I wish I hadn't sold it, and I can't work out who had it off me. Can ANYONE help me please ????
Guest Roger A. Mann Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Hello Ian, I'm a big fan of your work, and i'd especially like to ask you about your 1979 Lp on AVI by Seventh Avenue titled "Midnight in Manhattan". I absolutely adore this album and have nearly played my original vinyl edition until it's smooth. Could you tell us the story behind the album? It's something you should be very proud of. It is slightly remeniscent of some of those wonderful Alex Constantanidis 'Suites" around the same time , Romeo and Juliet etc. Anyway I wish you all the very best with your current productions.

Maybe 2004. ............ Ian the Sonny Turner record i assume is "Now that she`s gone"? This is a really hard record to find...only seen one other since i picked mine up in Detroit about 6 years ago. Nobody knows it but whenever i play it to anybody it goes straight onto their wants list. No wonder you want it back...one that will go to the grave with me. Chris.

It did come out in the 1990s on CD. It was recorded in late 1978 and released in 1979. It was an attempt, like those Alec Constandinos albums, to link five songs together telling the story of a gay love affair that meant splitting up then reuniting. MIDNIGHT IN MANHATTAN NEW YORK'S ON FIRE MIAMI HEATWAVE FROM CHICAGO TO THE SKY L.A. AT THE END OF THE DAY Two lead singers, Peter Butler and Paul Kinane. Rick Gianatos mixed it, and got it signed to AVI. He also appears on the inside cover. My lyrics for "New York's On Fire" described the night Tom Moulton took me to The Infinity, in December 1975.

I haven't put the video on YouTube yet, so can't post it up here until I do. As it's probably "THE" standout track on the whole album, I was going to wait a few weeks before putting it on YouTube.

Guest Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 have to say, that is excellent. This thread truly excites me when it can bring this music to the attention of people who care, with open minds, who enjoy discovering great music that they wouldn't otherwise have heard. I am grateful and appreciative to you. Did you see the Davinah Edwards ??? ">

Guest Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 have to say ian, i haven't got a axe to grind, one way or the other. because of the early bitching and crap going on, i've tended to stay away from this thread.plus have to be honest and say maybe i was blinkered in not liking a lot of your early stuff, just not for me, if others liked it then there choice. but think this is very good, would play this out any time. choon Thankyou. And then surely you would like "Miracles" too ???? ">

Guest Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 perhaps mr levine, now you've lost all the high energy beat thing that was going on in the stuff i was pre judging you by, you might be opening a few ears up. hope this now means i dont have to go back to page one and start looking from the beginning !!! Some of the earlier stuff was great, and some of it just needed remixing to make it sound more authentic. Please allow me to present my favourite to you, recorded twenty years ago in Detroit. Just to prove there was some merit back then too. ">
