Just wondered if anyone else had the Africa L.P. " Music from Lil Brown", mines on a French label (name escapes me?) i believe it also came out on Ode, the group has Brice Coefield, Gary Pipkin, Chester Pipkin, Ed Wallace as the group members, certain it was recorded in France while the artists were living there, bit of an oddball album but i recall a decent crossover track in amongst it all. Chris Morgan (Taste Of Honey) played the album to me some years back(thats where i heard it first). Only mention it because i was just looking at various artists via the web and came across it (had totally forgotten the album).

I've got it Brett, but to be honest there's nothing too hot on there as I recall. I'll have another listen.

Think Richard Searling raves about the 'think about me' track on this LP( I know he paid £100 for his copy). Also Dave Rivers plays this track in some of his sets (inc Prestatyn last year)

Got a spare at £30 if any one is interested

It must be a west coast thing as the Pipkin brothers are from there, also the guys behind such great tracks as Tate-Love shop and Paris-Sleepless night

Chester was originally in the doo wop group The Squires

I love 'From Africa with love', which also came out as a single

The Squires as in 'Don't Accuse Me' ? Didn't the Pipkins songwriting credits pop up on some Motown stuff too? I know they worked with Frank Wilson on 'Sleepless Nights'....oh to be been a fly on that studio wall biggrin.gif I don't know the Africa LP at all....must go and listen x

My French copy has a different sleeve plus the reverse has some notes plus a blinding black and white photo of the group looking "Uber Cool", all shades, elaborate neck jewellery and fine and dandy clothes"

I'll try and find it then scan the swine.
