Tim has some absolute top tunes in his box and as you say has the balls to play off the beaten track which he did at The Uni in October. Dave.

Paul-s Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) Miss Goldie - Melbourne Callum - Melbourne Both Australian, so I guess not much chance of hearing them here. They are an oasis of soul in OZ and they definitely DONT walk the well beaten path. Fortunately I will get to hear them in February/March! Brett Franklin Bob Cornock Alex Jones.....one of the very best!! (not new, but still not appreciated enough!) Baz A, Kev Cane, Gaz Simon (north East generally has a soulful, maverick approach!) Best regards and happy new year to you all Eduard Me. I'm a new and young talent and this year I'm going to be awesome!. seriously, "Top" new DJ's who I reckon should / may go 'global' in 2009 - Dolly (as in Mrs Jones), she is turning up some interesting records and I can see her giving some of the guys a run for their money this year. Also I've heard lots of people raving over Johnny Finger's box of tuneage....not sure who he is but he seems to get rave reviews from loads of people I've spoken to (sorry for being ignorant if he's on here).. also for me, Yockie. I know he's well known and one of yorkshire's finest... I think he should be recognied as one of the UK's best and be on more of these 'top dj' line up's across the country. But only MVHO of course... Jayne.x

Guest andyrattigan Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Respect where its due to all the older Djs but its always nice to see young DJs breaking through with a genuine passion for the music. Edu did an amazing set down the 100 club a few years back at that Euro allnighter. I hope Ady puts on another one of those nights the music was fantastic. Pip over in Dublin is another fantastic DJ with a great style.
Theresa Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Luppers & Joel ARE the new Smashie & Nicey on the northern scene. Joel's even got the shiny tracksuit tops already.

Chalky Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) Any chance of some current plays from the up coming DJ's, might get them some work if promoters knew what they played. Many promoters won't give someone a set on word of mouth or some recommendation from their mates. Do they have something to offer that isn't there already???? Lifeline always on the lookout for up coming DJ's with something to offer. Edited January 8, 2009 by chalky

You should have been around 20 years ago Liam! Honestly the Scottish soul scene back then was second to none Anyway, I can't disagree, all great DJ's - but hardly 'up and coming'. All fairly well established imo.
Guest Beeks Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I've posted a set list on the 'Set List' thread which sums up the sort of stuff i'm playing ATM...i'll probably get more work on the Soul Circuit this year without a doubt...because I had fook all work last year full stop hahaha
