Steveh73 Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 There seems to be an abundance of compilations aimed of 60s Motown sounds - rare, common, obscure or otherwise. What I want to know, though, is what tunes would you reccomend if Motown was to ask you to compile a similar CD but this time aimed at the 70s conneisseur? I'll start with a couple of obvious biggies but I'm sure the Soul Source forum can throw up many more! Bottom and Co - Gonna Find A True Love Virgil Henry - You Ain't Saying Nothing New.

Sebastian Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 body chains- eddie parker The above was released as Prodigal 0617 and according to https://www.seabear.se/detroit2.htm : "Prodigal was a Detroit label owned by Barney Ales. It was started 1974 and was discontinued in June 1979. Catalog numbers 0611 - 0620 were pre-Motown releases. Numbers 0621 onwards were manufactured and distributed by Motown." "Body Chains" sure is a fantastic hard pounding mid 70s dancer with gritty vocals though.
Guest cC B Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 (edited) G.C.Cameron "Topics" (MOTOWN) ...what a tune...! Cheers, Christian B Edited May 4, 2005 by cC B

Garethx Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Good to see G.C. Cameron getting lots of mentions in this section. What a spellbinding voice this fellow had. All three Motown solo lps and the album of duets with Syreeta are well worth picking up. Particular favourites of mine are "Include Me In Your Life" and "Strong Love" from "G.C. Cameron" and "Your Love Won't Turn Me Loose" and "Tippin" from the ace "Love Songs and Other Tragedies" set.

Sebastian Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 While on the G.C. Cameron tip... I personally love "You Need A Change" from the "Rich Love, Poor Love" LP by Syreeta & G.C. Cameron. Nice piece of uplifting 70s soul.
