Cunnie Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Just picked up a copy of the latest Mojo magazine for the Motown 50th birthday special & thought a few of you on here might be interested. The Motown section contains a pretty comprehensive Motown top 100 with reviews for each record & they ain't the usual pap that you would expect. Also some pretty interesting interviews with people like Berry Gordy, HDH etc. Some great pics in it as well & quite a few I ain't seen before. https://cover.mojo4music.com/Item.aspx?page...5&year=2009 Also contains a free cd as well & it's not the usual stuff you'd expect from a mag like this. Tracklisting as follows. 1 Contours - Do You Love Me 2 Martha & Vvadellas - Come & Get These Memories 3 Supremes - Run Run Run 4 Eddie Holland - Leaving Here 5 Jr Walker - Tune Up 6 Marvin Gaye - At Last (I Found A Love) 7 Marvelettes - Locking Up My Heart 8 Jackson 5 - I Found That Girl 9 Four Tops - Still Water 10 Miracles - Baby Don't You Go 11 Temptations - Fading Away 12 Gladys Knight & Pips - Didn't You Know (You'd Have To Cry Sometime) 13 Bobby Taylor & Vancouvers - Does Your Mama Know About Me 14 Marv Johnson - Come To Me 15 Mable John - You Made A Fool Out Of Me Well worth the £4.30 cover price & a must for the Motown fans.
Mike Lofthouse Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Also contains a free cd as well & it's not the usual stuff you'd expect from a mag like this. Tracklisting as follows. Picked up a copy today and it it excellent - but I think you do the magazine an injustice Cunnie - it has always given first class coverage of black music - there has been some great specials and articles over the years - Sam Dees, Dan Penn; Bobby Bland, top 100 soul albums, Dave Godin's top Soul singers etc etc. Probably the only magazine I have bought consistantly over the past 15 years or more!! Mike
